carss Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 So there are still a number of planes that are presently still in open beta, like the Mirage 2000, F-86, FW-190, BF-109 etc. And as you can see, all these planes are literally in just about all the countries/factions that are there in DCS. When they come out of open beta, will they be narrowed to be kept only in all the countries they used to/are in service with, and with their respective paint schemes of those countries? 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Planes: FC3, P-51, F-86, F-5E, Mirage 2000, F/A-18, F-14, F-16, Mig-19P :joystick: ED pls gib A-4 and F-4
King_Hrothgar Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 No, all flyable aircraft are available to all nations in the mission builder. It's always been that way and I don't see it ever changing, nor should it.

Even the Mig-21 isn't there for factions like Insurgents. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Planes: FC3, P-51, F-86, F-5E, Mirage 2000, F/A-18, F-14, F-16, Mig-19P :joystick: ED pls gib A-4 and F-4
PiedDroit Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Limiting insurgents make sense (it's not really a country), otherwise, I really hope those will be available to all countries. Aircraft inventory limitations should be done at the mission design level only.
Exorcet Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I think having everything available everywhere is a great option. To remove it would be too restrictive and arbitrary. Captured/Defecting units are a very real thing. Having aircraft available across nations also helps us set up training scenarios (the USAF Aggressors nation was a great addition to DCS). The only thing missing is something that indicates what nations do/don't have a specific aircraft. If someone wants to build a mission following that rule, they need to investigate outside the sim. Golo Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 I personally think all units should be available to every country, it should be up to mission designer to justify (to himself and ppl that play the mission) why he added "that" specific unit to "that" specific country.

Aircraft inventory limitations should be done at the mission design level only. But here's the thing, only the Mig-21 is limited to Insurgents, while other planes like the Sabre, Mig-15, even the advanced Mirage 2000 are there for Insurgents [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Planes: FC3, P-51, F-86, F-5E, Mirage 2000, F/A-18, F-14, F-16, Mig-19P :joystick: ED pls gib A-4 and F-4
Northstar98 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 I believe there should be a mission editor function for this i.e. allowing aircraft for different nations - allowing you to choose an inventory then it can be as realistic as you like. Another idea is to have this able to be controlled via a trigger for say, when a team captures an airbase, that coalition gains access to whatever aircraft stationed there etc. It's probably gonna be very complex but it's just an idea. It not entirely standardized. Generally speaking DCS quality aircraft will be available for everyone. There may be exceptions to the rule, but that is mostly the case. The FC3 aircraft (and Su-25T) however are only available to the countries that field them. It is worth noting that with 1.5 a number of countries were added to the game and they haven't really been populated with either accurate equipment or DCS aircraft yet. To my knowledge only China (with a few things) and Greece have been updated thus far. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. They don't have F-15s, nor do they have any Mig-29s or Su-27/33s. So why add all that to Greece? And what about Japan, they could have F-15s? So why add all that to Greece? And what about Japan, they could have F-15s? Forgot that Greece has those aircraft available. As I said its not entirely standardized. A big reason why the "new" countries aren't correctly populated is simply down to liveries and how objects get assigned countries in the first place. Newer flyables tend to get added to every country with the idea that liveries can be added later. New flyables of existing objects tend to need an appropriate livery before being added to a given country. Here is a list of countries added in 1.5. Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, China, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, and USAF Aggressors The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
