nscode Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Did anyone else notice that civilian traffic can drive over destroyed bridges? :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Disso Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Not just civillian traffic.....EVERYTHING. It's a major bug in the game. Though the actual model is destroyed, the hit detection for it is still there, and all vehicles, will be seemingly driving on air as they transverse it. SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.
Weta43 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 ??? I've never seen it happen. It may happen occasionally, but it certainly doesn't happen all the time. There's a campaign I made for the Su-25 (here in the missions thread) where in one of the missions you have to stop a convoy & the way I did it was to take out a bridge in their path. When the convoy gets there they just stop & you can pick them off.. Cheers.
Jay Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 As I remember vehicles always stopped in front of any bridge I've destroyed... Floyd Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 As I remember vehicles always stopped in front of any bridge I've destroyed... I saw civilian traffic (the one you can enable in the options) 'fly' over a destroyed bridge, but a tank column stopped.
nscode Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 Yes, but even the first wehicle that stops does it ON the destroyed bridge :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
RipKirby Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Tanks stop, civilian vehicles fly. Notice the bridge isn't casting a shadow but the tanks are. The water looks like it is very far away, way under water level.
Steel Jaw Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 (edited) Prolly related to the non-collision-detection of tress as well. Jinro Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Another problem is that the bridges don't even come into view until you're right up on it, making it difficult to properly line up for a bombing run.
nomdeplume Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 This is one of the reasons I turn off the civilian traffic... first noticed this in Black Shark, after blowing up a bridge and watching a civilian vehicle run over it. Ambient traffic adds immersion, but having them cruise right through things removes it again. Actual ground units placed in the editor should stop when they encounter a broken bridge. Behaviour isn't so great if they're on the bridge when it gets destroyed, though.
