Elo001 Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) We used do have this before 1.5, now that VR is slowly but surely coming to DCS it'd be nice to have this back Shadows currently MURDER VR performance (as they're rendered "worldwide", twice, even though you can't even make them out through the low-res rift), but the cockpit also looks kind of bland/flat if you turn shadows completely off Edit: as requested, 780 TI, i5 OC'ed to 4Ghz, 8 gigs of ram on windows 10 and 7 Edited March 29, 2016 by Elo001

Elo001 Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) 780 TI, i5 OC'ed to 4Ghz Really this doesn't have to do anything with system specs though, it's a simple case of shadows requiring a LOT of processing power (which is normal) even though you can't even properly see them outside of the cockpit (for distant objects) with the DK2 It'd just be a massive performance boost in VR across the board for every system, for very little tradeoff Edited March 29, 2016 by Elo001
Frusheen Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 +1. Please give us this option. VR performance needs all the help it can get and system specs are irrelevant as no system can currently run VR smoothly at all times which is essential to prevent illness. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051
KLR Rico Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 +1 In many cases, I'm seeing a 45 FPS difference between shadows on/off when using rift CV1 i5-4670k @ 4.5ghz, 16gb ram, 970 w/factory OC i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
HoneyBadger Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 +1 I can live without World based shadows, but losing the cockpit shadows kills me.
DerekSpeare Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 The option to enable cockpit shadows and disable static object shadows should be available.
