Milli Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I found this video , (and yes i know its an F-111), but it just goes to show how much play you have with laser guided bombs once they have been released. From 1 minute 7 seconds into the video it gets a bit comical, but it highlights just how much you can manoeuvre a laser guided bomb once it's been dropped. Anyway, I just thought it makes for an interesting video, about how to make the most out of a bad situation. 1
Gliptal Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Wasn't expecting so much chatter between the two pilots.
Andrei Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 This is hilarious :D Thanks for sharing. What a disappointment for the pilots. Fool me once - shame on you, fool me twice... BimC Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I thought they coordinate their targets before releasing their bombs. Even before leaving homebase? Is this normal? Would imagine a shitstorm from my team if it had happened in multiplayer. Jester Darrak Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Maybe someone used the wrong lase code because the "rogue" bombs hitjust the spot the B/N was lasing.

Would imagine a shitstorm from my team if it had happened in multiplayer. Could be a multitude of factors - this attack was during the opening hours of the air campaign which would have been understandably pretty hectic. The air war planners would probably build some redundancy into the targeting list by assigning the same target to two different flights, one as their primary target and one as their secondary target to hit if they had ordnance remaining. Looks like these guys were very unfortunate that both their TOTs were almost identical! DUSTY Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I'm pretty sure that's the F-111 crew talking over intercom... It is, BimC was referring to the fact that another aircraft hit their target while this crew's weapon was mid flight. Meaning they had to hastily lase another target at the last possible moment. RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 WOW DCS is just like real life. Like when I get online with my Hog and start engaging targets only to see them get hit by other players because I didnt deconflict on a team speak channel. Obviously the USAF didnt have team speak back then. DUSTY Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 For anyone interested here's an except from 'F-111 & EF-111 Units in Combat' - Peter E Davies, 2014.
