SuperKungFu Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 This might be a noobish question but i always wondered what was the "win" key because i need it to toggle the emission mode for the Su-27's N-001 radar. I long time ago i mapped the "win" key onto my joystick but now my stick includes ctrl, shift, and alt and have no place for it. I also can't seem to find it on the keyboard, which button is it. Its not talking about the windows key is it? Because if you press that, the windows menu will pop up and minimize the game. I need to toggle the emission mode through "win+I" key, could anyone point me to the right direction? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

bflagg Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 from Winguides.com Disable the Windows Key (Windows NT/2000/XP) This tweak disables the Windows key that is found between the Ctrl and Alt keys on a Windows enhanced keyboard. Open your registry and find or create the key below. Create a new Binary value, or modify the existing value, called "Scancode Map" and set it according to the value data below. Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect. Registry Settings System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout] Value Name: Scancode Map Data Type: REG_BINARY (Binary Value) Value Data: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 5C E0 00 00 00 00 you can probably make a regfile so you can toggle between the two setting.. but you will have log out for it to take effect Two text file attached. Save to HD and rename to whatever.reg I take no responsiblity if you fry your PC or your Win install... research appropriately and act. Tested and works just fine... hitman Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Your not trying to "cheat" are yah? You cant automatically win the game with the press of a simple button!! Read the manual, n00b.
SuperKungFu Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 lol nice hitman. Anyway i figured out what was wrong, in the game my left win key doesn't work whether it is disabled or not. And since im running on a laptop, i dont have a right win key. So i had to plug in my external keyboard to make it recognize a right win key in my X-52 profile. However, i want to toggle the radar emission mode with a single button, but i can't figure out how to do that in the SST program. Once you press the Rwin key and "I" for the radar, it recongize it has 2 separate keys rather than "Rwin+I". Since it recongize it as two separate keys, it will actually turn off the radar since the last key stroke is "I" which to toggle radar. Is there any way to map it as a combo key? The only keys that seems to have a combo function is shift, alt, and ctrl, not the win key. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

nscode Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Surprisingly, it came with a PS2 connector and I needed a PS2/DIN for my first PC :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Starlight Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I've got a '95 indestructable IBM, and there's no fancy aditional key that's gonna make me throw it away :) well, the win key is useful if you use Windows as an OS. I always use shortcuts with the win key. The stupid keys imho are the ones that have been added on today's "multimedia keyboards". I have never used any multimedia key, except one time that I was trying to grab a screen shot with "Print" and I turned off the PC because the "print" key had been replaced by "Power off" key :( Plus, today it's quite impossible to find a winkey-less keyboard. I've got some old (pre-95) keyboards, they're not as good as modern keyboards...
SuperKungFu Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 So no1 is going to answer my question? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

My usual recommendation: Swap around the key assignments for "Easy radar"(SHIFT+i) and "PRF modes"(Rwin+i) in Lock-on's "Input options" :) . Cheers, - JJ. JJ
SuperKungFu Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 yea that will work, thanks! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
VMFA-Blaze Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Before FC was released The Start Engine Button was page up.. Well I used to go on line and try and start my engines, but I could never get them to fire, and I tried everything!!!! Well this went on for months so I tried to contacted ED but never received a reply... I even PM'd Wags and asked if he would check with the programmers for a resolution to this problem and never got an answer.. Finally I had several private conversations with Day Glow, and after repeadly asking and explaining all the little details the answer was finally reached ... It did take some time as I think that Day Glow was in contact with ED regarding this..... I had at that time a Sony key board which turned out not to be a standard model... Actually it did have a page up and down but it was combined with the up and down arrows and to get the the up and down to work you have to press the shift key as well.. Now this didn't work as Lock On didn't recognize this and you couldn't reprogram those keys at that time... Later on I found that there were a few others that had the same issues as well.. So with the release of FC, ED has changed the buttons to a more universal key combo... Now you can only use the right WIN button with the home key in start up, but you can reprogramm the buttons if neccessary... (cool) And of course I've also changed my Key BD to a standard as well, just in case ... And now theres a problem with this set up ??? But as the old saying goes you can never please everybody, but Ed certainly tries...
