Pilotasso Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I made a few model kits this summer and I included the Su-27 in the list. heres some grainy pictures i took with my webcam: 1) The box 2) the parts 3) decals and inks 4) main airframe assembled. 5) initial paint scheme work. More to come right after this. .
Pilotasso Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 6) More details from the paint work, almost finished. 7)Decals on and put on the shelve. 8 ) Size comparisson, look at the size of that mutha. :shocking: (photo doesnt do any justice) All in all Im not a too sophisticated modeler. There are numerous paint mistakes, some visible joints ETC. I work with crude tools, its an expensive hobby. .
Scart Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I don't know who thought you hate the Flanker, but i've saw you flying it, and I would say you do it as good as you fly the Eagle. P.S. Model looks pretty good. I've also made one from Academy 1:48. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] летаю на заказ, дорого... hitman Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Its Revell...I would have stuck with Hasegawa, but yeah I know..expensive. You paint it with an airbrush or did you go in by hand??
Pilotasso Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 A panoramic picture of some of the models in my collection: .
Pilotasso Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Its Revell...I would have stuck with Hasegawa, but yeah I know..expensive. You paint it with an airbrush or did you go in by hand?? That Japanese F-15 you see on the background of my collection is from hasegawa, and its the most accurate model I got so far. Revell is the most widespread brand over here. hasegawa are hard to find, and when I do I see such thing as Mig-29 twice the price I payed for the Su. I did the paint all by hand. you can see some dirty brushes in the pictures. :D .
Scart Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Which brand is Gripen made by? Italeri? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] летаю на заказ, дорого... yamangman Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Know a guy who does some excellent models, he has some example pictures on the web....
hitman Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I need to get my collection back...left them all in missouri. I like that Tornado above and that Lightning looks pretty tight, even though Im not particularly fond of them. The middle one is a DeHavilland Muskeeter aint it?
Pilotasso Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Which brand is Gripen made by? Italeri? Yup. Usualy light fighters Kit quality are crap in every aspect but this gripen and the F-16 (revell) turned out out to be prety decent. :) The rafale kit was awfull to assemble because the parts werent precise at all. And the mirage has no space for the seat, so I had to make it myself. It also didnt have any radome so I painted one. oh beware of this SU revell kit. Decals are excelent (I chose not to use the Ukranian clown kite scheme) but the manual has plenty of errors and ommisions. .
hitman Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I had one big beef with Hasegawa when I was doing a 1/72 F-14D and they botched the main landing gear straight from the plant, and I didnt find out about it until I got halfway done with the thing...puttied up, sanded, and 4 layers of primer and paint all airbrushed on. All their F-14's had botched landing gear from the plant. <---Was highly peeved.
Maverick-90 Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 The middle one is a DeHavilland Muskeeter aint it? Avro Lancaster...
hitman Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Ive been wrong before...WW2 bombers arent my specialty unless their american.
Scart Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I know about Revell - once I was presented an 1:48 F-15C by Revell grrr..., but at last i've finished it w/o manual :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] летаю на заказ, дорого... Guest Cali Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 I need to get back into this as well, I need to take some pictures of my F-16 that is 90% done. That 27 looks good and you did it dy hand (WOW) I use little spray cans. I tried to paint 1 by hand and it looked like crap.
SVK_Fox Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hi guys I will send ya somepictures of my kits tommorow, now I am not able to do it - drink too much and not at home :) see ya soon :P
Pilotasso Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Lookin forward to that. Im tired to see how badly im beaten in making model kits look good. Mine are nowhere as good as some pro pics shown here. :D Im curious to see how kits made by amatuers look like. .
Dudikoff Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Its Revell...I would have stuck with Hasegawa, but yeah I know..expensive. You paint it with an airbrush or did you go in by hand?? But Revell's Flanker is a repack of a Hasegawa kit (minus the PE parts - HUD, intake grille, etc. and white metal parts, which are unecessary). It is a nice kit (when you get some aftermarket cockpit); too bad they made it much too wide around the engines. i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. Pilotasso Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 I forgot to tell ya something I noticed while I was gluing the decals. The thing has 260 flare dispenser slots... :shocking: .

Guest Cali Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 actualy yes. :censored: that didn't work, I think that mold batch was wrong. Something about the guy doing it was drunk
Pilotasso Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 Actualy the dispensers are represented by decals. .
Guest Cali Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Actualy the dispensers are represented by decals. Then the decals are WRONG....LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!:bash:
Pilotasso Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 let me show you. Even if they are wrong look at how much degree of freedom there is to say 32 flares for the flanker ingame is WRONG. .
