Fans of RAF jet bombers may be interested to read that organisers of a project to return a Vulcan bomber to the skies have said it could come to an end due to a funding shortfall.

Here's a link to the story

There's also a nice video on the BBC web site showing various versions of the Cold War/Falklands War veteran.

Seem to remember that there was a fine FS2004 Vulcan add-on (capable of air-to-air refuelling) available, with some of the proceeds going to the XH558 project.

Engineers, administrators, etc, salaries, rent, promo costs - and all the rest. Still, will be interested in seeing how it all ends up.

I wouldn't want to see it with a big "Virgin" logo on the side though....:D

True, but there isn't a big Virgin sign down the side of Sally B when Branson sponsored it when it's future was in doubt.

they rolled XH588 out the hanger on Thursday, even after all this cash and hard work is finished its only gunna fly one year of displays. Then it willbe flown to Duxford to be made into a static display :(.

You mean 10 - 15 years of displays... then to Duxford.

Thanks for that post, Yamangman, I nearly missed that bit of news. I heard a while back that even once it is airworthy again it will still cost £1,000,000 a year to operate. Hope the sponsors have deep pockets.
