This is something that has bothered me for the longest time, and I make note that not everyone else has noticed this, but when attacking tank columns, they simply move around the dead vehicle(s). Not a single one of them goes defensive with the exception of AAA, and even then they simply stay within the column instead of seperating or laugering in. I have yet to see a tank pop smoke to cover itself. Will this be noticed sometime in the future? Every country has their own attact doctrine but almost everyone copies the soviet doctrine and makes small changes to that doctrine.

Yeah I'm afraid of the fact that BS will be a wonderful helicopter simulator; but the detail will stay on helicopter, and ground units will not get any attention at all. So, we'll end up flying an awesome helicopter in an arcade vehicle world :)

 

We should have improved vehicle logic, basic damage modelling for vehicles and right weapon effects on that damage modelling depending on where it's hit. Otherwise BS will be a boring sim, it will be just fun to fly the Ka-50, not going on missions just to get the same old results. This problem is not very visible on Su-25T as it's a plane, but when you add a helicopter, then details for vehicles should be upped.

If thats what you expect from Black Shark, you are going to get a nasty surprise Erdem! :) . I simply cannot understand how you can think that "ground units will not get any attention at all"......as far as I recall people have been complaining that screenshots released by ED were too focused on ground units and not enough on the Ka-50 :)

I'm not talking about "beautifully modelled vehicles". New toys and new features are different things.

 

I'm talking about how they take damage and how they behave. Right now I't just based on a basic hitpoint system, and you don't get any effects other than just a simple burning one.

 

I want vehicle complexity in a Helicopter sim, as now I'm closer to ground. I want to immobilize a tank, hit it's engine, or "tear" it with my 30mm shells with corresponding effects. I want them to throw their turret when "overkilled". Or put trucks out of commision without destroying them. I want them to take some kind of fragment damage when I shower them with my rocket pods. And so on . . . Not just "tanks take two vikhrs to magically burn, you need a direct rocket hit to kill trucks etc. . ."

 

Also, let's not forget the AI of course. For example, I want them to manuever while attacking somewhere, and try to aviod my chopper. Give them some kind of self-initiative and so on :)

Lots of ground units may have been implanted into the game, but what about movements? Watching a tank tavel in a straight line under fire is painful to watch, no matter how accurate the guns are on them tanks. Training dictates that survival may lie in movement, but not just forward movement while under attack.

No I am not - read my reply again mate :) .

 

I am just curious how Erdem can think that ground units "get no attention" when most of the recent Black Shark screenshots posted by ED have revolved around those.

I hope and prey that they get more smarts as it will improve the whole sim for the A10 and SU25 as well.

 

I'd love to see some basic scripting built into the missions editor, and I mean basic like...

Thats becuase he cant answer your exact question if he does he will get in trouble, read between the lines what he is saying is that the ground AI has gotten the attention needed to make the heli part of the sim better then what it was before, and the the attention has been givin and still is prob in the works as well.

Yeah but still, theyve been extremely tight lipped about ANYTHING on this, and tank manouvers isnt something of that big of deal to me, aside from the fact that its not natural. Even though Alfa said AI has been worked on, nothing was said about column movements.

Blackhelecoptors Movie

If you look at that last movie release from ED Blackhelecopters

 

The AI for the ground units did not show much improvement.

 

But I agree that Alfa is trying to say there will be some improvement.

 

Looks like we just don't know the details yet.

 

I was told the movie was three months behind the development of the

 

product so they may well be working on AI behavior as we post.

 

One thing is for sure "If you want some real work done you better call in the

 

guy's who work in the MUDD!!" (said by me)

Good post about hitpoint system and g/v AI Erdem. This is the priority. I believe they have taken care to correct this aspect as many other parts to rise immersion for future virtual chopper pilots. I've heard about new trees, terrain textures, ground officers. I'd like to see also telephone lines and pylons - not only high-voltage. Oh...! And I forgot about laundry ropes between biuldings ;)
