MBot Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Sometimes the autopilot slave-mode is not engaging. Please see the attached track (hopefully it is replaying correctly). The clicking sounds you hear from 1:48 on is me trying to unsuccessfully enable the slave mode. Please also note the laser range finder seems to be stuck to 1713 meters until I turn VCB power off and on again. Only after this it starts to correctly measure range.
Zarma Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Didn't check the track but were you on a fix autohover or moving because of the wind ? I noticed that if you aren't fix at a spot you can't turn on the slave mode. i9 9900k, 64 Go RAM, RTX 4090, Warthog HOTAS Throttle & Stick, Virpil AH64 collective, TPR rudder, MFD Cougar, Trackir 5 Pro, Multipurpose UFC, Alain Dufour's TEDAC and Oculus Rift S (when I want some VR), http://www.twitch.tv/zarma4074 / https://www.youtube.com/user/Zarma4074
Flagrum Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I had the same problem. Auto-hovering just fine, but I couldn't get the AP to be slaved to the sight. After reading the manual word for word (mentioning "target point"), I think, I figgured it out now. You need to actually lase a point first so that the AP knows "THIS is my target point". Just slewing the camera around won't suffice. After that, the AP followed the sight just fine. (but I still wonder if this procedure is really realistic ...?)

Deezle Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Yeah it seems in mountainous terrain the camera doesn't like to stabilize and won't lase either, and it if won't do either of those then it won't slave. I usually then slew the camera inline with my target but at a much closer point to where it will stabilize, then slave, still a pain though because it still won't give you a launch authorize for your target, so you have to launch short and then guide the missile out to the target. I have a mission where this is very repeatable, I could record an attempt if anyone would like to see it. 112th_Rossi Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I found you have to get a firing solution first, wether thats targetting the ground or whatever, then slave tends to work
wolle Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 It was mentioned by John in another thread that using the IR mode of the camera makes the ground stabilization and auto turn feature much more reliable. fjacobsen Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 The sight takes 3 mins to cool down when it´s turned On. This means You need to wait 3 mins before IR mode is available and this seems necessary inorder to engage Slave mode. FinnJ | i7-10700K 3.8-5.1Ghz | 64GB RAM | RTX 4070 12GB | 1x1TB M.2. fjacobsen Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Depending on the IR sight? That would be odd at least ... I agree, but nonetheless it seems to be the case in this simulation right now. Try it Yourself... Turn on the system. Select IR sght. As soon as the sight has cooled down after 3 mins and the IR sight appears (when not cooled down yet, a very low contrast image is shown), You can also turn on Slave mode. Deezle Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Yes, it appears the IR sight must be on and cooled down before it will slave. However, the problem goes beyond that, as shown in my video. Sporg Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I can slave with normal camera, but only if I am in stable stationary auto-hover. If it is sliding, slave does not work. Secondly, slave seems to work better if you set it from firing solution. But more testing needed. Deezle Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Here's the mission. We already know the laser does not currently measure any objects, upon further testing it appears it's not measuring the top of the mountain where the BMP is. It's measuring the ground beyond it, and at a low angle the ground beyond the mountain top is greater than the 15km limit away. I went straight up from the FARP and tried ranging. It was clearly lasing the ground beyond the mountain.Attack on boulder coop only.miz Intel 9600K@4.7GHz, Asus Z390, 64GB DDR4, EVGA RTX 3070, Custom Water Cooling, 970 EVO 1TB NVMe 34" UltraWide 3440x1440 Curved Monitor, 21" Touch Screen MFD monitor, TIR5 My Pit Build, Moza AB9 FFB w/WH Grip, TMWH Throttle, MFG Crosswinds W/Combat Pedals/Damper, Custom A-10C panels, Custom Helo Collective, SimShaker with Transducer
