wolle Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 do I have to uninstall previous drivers when using GeForce experience Hi, I currently have a GTX 770 in my computer, and a GTX 1070 is on its way. When upgrading, do I have to uninstall previous drivers first, or can I assume that GeForce experience will do all the necessary updates once it detects my new graphics card. I googled it, but I find conflicting answers. Any help will be appreciated. OldE24 Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 It's alawys a good idea to remove them. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html and install fresh drivers. on that note i laugh at anyone who buys a 1070 before the 29th, and AMD's release of the RX 480. while i'm 99.9% sure it wont match the performance, but it will only be 199$4GB/229$ for 8GB. Im waiting to see where the dust settles first. 8700k@4.7 32GB ram, 1080TI hybrid SC2

Thanks for the advice, I'll uninstall the old driver, now my next question: "and install fresh drivers." how will I do that, through GeForce experience, or will that be deleted by DDU as well? lazduc Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 If you change your vid card, I think you will have to disable all your DCS modules otherwise the starforce protection will kill all your modules...I think...best be safe than sorry.

Johnny Dioxin Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Whilst the upcoming AMD offerings do look very tempting, it's worth bearing in mind how much of a difference there has been between nVidia and ATi on various simulators, despite comparable card performance. This is why I will wait about a year to see how things pan out before opting one way or the other and stick with my 970 for now. Fig Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Hey Guys, Just to add to this thread, i've ordered my MSI gtx1070 and will be getting it in a few days. Soooo, do i need to do something to DCS to deactivate modules and stuff? PINOY PRIDE!!! JLX Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 My MSI 1070 is enroute as well to replace my aging 7950. Must admit that I bought it out of frustration as I don't like Nvidia's proprietary Gameworks/GSync/etc. but I want more oomph than Polaris, and Vega is still to long a wait. While I may not like their marketing tactics, there is no denying the green team makes some speedy GPUs and (according to the 2016 Hardware Benchmark thread) DCS still seems more Nvidia friendly at this point although I really hope things will even out in the future. Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing how smooth I'm able to get DCS running in VR (Vive). Fingers crossed! 3570K w/ 16GB, 1070 w/ 8GB @ 1440p, VKB Gunfighter/MCG-Pro & T-Rudder Mk.IV, CH ProThrottle, TrackIR 5, HTC Vive, UniversRadio, VoiceAttack, TacView Pro, DCS Menu Nav F/A-18C, F-5E, F-86F, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, Ka-50, SA342, P-51D, Spitfire Mk.IX, Bf109, Fw190, FC3, CA, Persian Gulf, NTTR, Normandy, WW2 Assets

I'm not ordering just now - waiting for prices to get out of "hype" level here. But in a few month time, once main geeky demand is satisfied, will grab 1070 was well to replace 7950. If you're not an early adopter, probably the next sweet spot for upgrades is after VR, Vega & DCS 2.x have all had time to mature a bit and drop in price. For me, I've already paid a premium to get the Vive and without a decent GPU I'm not making the most of it. There is definitely a cost to jumping in early but it's also exciting to experience VR in it's infancy. Warts and all. :-) 3570K w/ 16GB, 1070 w/ 8GB @ 1440p, VKB Gunfighter/MCG-Pro & T-Rudder Mk.IV, CH ProThrottle, TrackIR 5, HTC Vive, UniversRadio, VoiceAttack, TacView Pro, DCS Menu Nav F/A-18C, F-5E, F-86F, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, Ka-50, SA342, P-51D, Spitfire Mk.IX, Bf109, Fw190, FC3, CA, Persian Gulf, NTTR, Normandy, WW2 Assets
