Hey Guys,

Was practicing lifting some 2000kg sling loads and one particular thing that would happen (time to time) was while im in horizontal flight with the load, my helicopter suddenly explodes.

Is there a reason for this like the sling load tearing the aircraft apart (excessive speed or other forces?).

It would be nice to see that in a track. :)

Hm, i was doing excessive sling load operations the last days in DCS 1.5.3 single player and i never had this problem. My external cargo loads ranged from 1000kg to 3500kg with several flights over ground and see to resupply different ships. Like Devrim said, a track would be nice to have a look whats going on.

ok guys, i've tried doing this again and i've watched some tutorials and read the manual (again)... I think i've found the problem.

During my previous lifting attempts, i didn't pay attention to the engine load indicator (just below the rotor blades pitch in degrees gauge with the yellow and red notches). I think i put the engines under too much stress (over maximum allowable operating point) that they would explode.

Well, you DO learn something new everyday hahaha.

Anyway, didn't include a track. But i've managed my engine better now and no more exploding. I think my crew chiefs will like me better now:)

Happened to me as well by not being very gentle with the collective and not paying attention to the engine load meters. Never go above the highest red mark for long time otherwise she goes POOF.

But it is still weird. Explode?

Is that realistic? Would it explode or ... engine mulfunction, torque loss or something?

If I overload engine or rotor, I lose RPM and go down the ground etc. I couldn't explode yet.

Sounds a "bit" overdone. There's nothing in the engines themselves, which could make the whole chopper go boom after all. I'll happily do some test flights to investigate it though :D.
