  1. 1. DCS world new releases preparation, involving key community users?

    • I think the communicty can help ED using early test versions.
    • I think that a closer communication with ED would help.
    • I think the current beta test process can be improved.
    • I think the ED testers team needs more people to help.

That some bugs remain unfixed for ages is usually not down to insufficient testing resources, but rather to how they are prioritised by the "fixing resources" :) .

They tend to rotate version releases... so they fix some in (to pull a number out of the air) candidate version 2, then release candidate version 1. Then fix some in Candidate V1, then re-release Candidate V2, and so forth

Ain't nuthin' wrong with that

- Ensure that the promised functionality gets delivered within the expected deadlines.

ED depleted deadlines some years ago, today only has expected delivery "plans", nothing more. DCS World has a massive machinery with multiple steps and ramifications, no a arcade console game build with AAA Nintendo, EA, etc standard. Take accounted ED not only centre your product on "entertainment" market.

For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

Yep. It is a fantastic product. But complicated for a mass retail market. However, a bit of marketing would not hurt, and with some really strategic improvements, it would be really a killer with much more user reach. I always wonder why there is hardly news of dcs world on the standard flip board gaming channels for example. A bit of marketing would not hurt. But maybe it is too early for that, until the product is more finished. Who knows...

In my opinion, DCS would more so suffer from mass marketing because the general public does not want a Sim that has to have serious attention spans and learning curves. The mass of people would destroy this game or try to get the developers to dwindle their modules into the simplicity of Ace Combat. I have nothing against simple flying games, but I think that people yearning to fly in the most realistic and authentic simulator will be willing to search for it, eventually coming upon the DCS.

PC specs: Aurora r3, Intel i7 960, 16gb Corair Dominator DDR3, MSI GTX 980.

I think the original remark was about prioritizing bug fixes. Also Pikey mentioned it. Not about the process, which from a technical perspective will be fine.

Nintendo, EA, and all the AAA game companies run massive delays too :music_whistling:. We have two weeks in flight sim world, and there is the valve time in AAA world :P.

Software development is nasty stuff, game development is nasty among nasty, and flight sim development, nastier still :D.

Delays are annoying, but simply are reality of this stuff. Therefore, I think development studios avoid giving deadlines more and more, to avoid inevitable nuclear fallout from the anticipating community.

Interesting results on the poll ...

I would disagree on account of two important points casting a shadow on credibility of poll :

- Number of participants is 45, which is very, very low.

- All poll options say in one way or other "there is something wrong", and there isn't a single option along the lines of "more community involvement won't make things better". This may also have contributed to low number of turnout, I, for one, did not vote because I did not agree any of the options.

So I do not think results on the poll are significant enough to be considered interesting.

Please don't get me wrong, no offence, no infuriating etc are intented here, just my observations on the poll.

I see. And you have a good point. Not sure if the poll can be modified to reflect also the other opinions.

The participations are indeed low, at least comparing with the number of 'views'.

I really would be interested in the opinion of those people who have created mission using lua scripting and code in lua. Less interested in the opinions of people testing other functions of DCS.
