Braeden108 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Anyone aware of the progress of IR launch detection? Or does the realsteel M2000 not have it? Light the tires kick the fires! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Skjold Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 AFAIK, the current DCS version of the Mirage does not have the D2M system.
Erab Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 AFAIK, the current DCS version of the Mirage does not have the D2M system. But there is a D2M switch at the cockpit.
Skjold Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) But there is a D2M switch at the cockpit. Yeah i know. I based that on another post made somewhere here. Let me find it. Edit: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2828702&postcount=2707 No clue on the posts accuracy, not my area of expertise. Edited July 12, 2016 by Skjold
QuiGon Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 As far as I know Skjold is right and there is no IR detector in our version of the M2000, but the switch is already there indeed. But RAZBAM has also said multiple times, that they will implement it anyway. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

The D2M system is apparently mounted as option on the external pylons on the 2000D and 2000N: http://florent1973.free.fr/FrenchAirWings/francais/walk%20around/autres_charges/Rail_Magic_Mirage2000/w_rail_magic_Mirage2000_2.htm The 2000C is said as "don't have D2M", but the switch is here. There is two options: 1 - Because in operations, the 2000C never uses these D2M pylons (for some strategic reasons) 2 - Because the 2000C is in fact not wired for this system despite the presence of the switch

Option 1, I guess. I don't think that RAZBAM would make something unrealistic. Mission: "To intercept and destroy aircraft and airborne missiles in all weather conditions in order to establish and maintain air superiority in a designated area. To deliver air-to-ground ordnance on time in any weather condition. And to provide tactical reconaissance imagery" - F-14 Tomcat Roll Call [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jojo Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) The DDM have been there from the very beginning of Mirage 2000 life, the sensor not. P18, a picture of DDM says; "Picture during early flight test in 1995" and it's a Mirage 2000N. So, it's typically the "nice to have option" that engineer thought about, and nobody wanted to fund it until Mirage 2000N n°346 was shot down in Bosnia and several other French aircraft had close calls with MANPADs. Then it was provided as upgrade to the MUDs who have most chance to face MANPADs. It's typical behavior when money is missing :music_whistling:lettre13fr.pdf Edited July 12, 2016 by jojo Mirage fanatic ! Silvern Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 According to RAZBAM, D2M will be implemented after RWR is updated.
