There isn't one on this model of Sabre afaik.

there is a handle you can pull out, just can't figure out how to engage it

Works for me, apply the brakes then pull handle, then release handle, then release pedals (they should stay "locked") Last time i flew saber, a Looong time ago you had to have engine running to get hydraulic pressure. Not sure if that has been changed in any update or if it was accurate from the beginning.

man, i still can't get it! have you successfully engaged the parking brake recently? i have the parking brake mapped to 'P'. so what i tried was:

1) hold 'W'

2) hold 'P'

3) release 'P'

4) release "w"

then the parking brake handle just slides back in and nothing happens. oh, and i'm idling at 40% RPM

Hah, really? I've owned the module since it came out and never noticed it.

I couldn't find a mention in the manual either.

yeah i couldn't find a mention in the manual either, which is why i came to post a question here. maybe its a feature they added after the manual was released and they never updated it?

That might be the case. Parking brake handle was one of the many inop handles and switches in cockpit for a long time, then at some point BST implemented it at last (fully, as I recall posts in this section a couple of months back, talking about activating the brake), maybe it's been broken now? The last update fudged some things in the Sabre after all.

Works fine for me. Apply the brakes, pull out the yellow Parking brake handle, release the brakes and the handle stays out (brakes engaged). I have not run up the engine to test how much holding power those brakes have however.

i tried doing exactly what you said, but the yellow parking brake handle always slides all of the way back in :noexpression:

It was newsflash to me that the engine needs to be running, because I was used to similar (apparently not!) system in P-51 Mustang, where it doesn't need to. Here, indeed, with engine cold, can't get full braking power, thus parking brake won't engage. But I've just tried instant takeoff mission in 1.5.4 (didn't check the idle RPM) and the parking brake works perfectly as per little instruction above.

Engine running or not?

As Art-J indicated, one has to have hydraulic pressure to the system for the Parking Brake to set. If you think about it, if the plane is NOT under power, there would probably be little need for a parking brake (they use chocks for that). Totally different when power is instantly available while the engine is running. I will be the first to admit I AM NOT that into the very technical stuff with any of the DCSW aircraft. I tend to focus on the correct operation of the systems without trying to understand the why's and wherefores of that operation.:pilotfly: But for the "purist" I understand the desire to know it all.
