WelshZeCorgi Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 In the Elbe Rescue mission, at the top of the mountain after being overloaded with troops, even with the RPM Governor off, I can't maintain a hover in order to takeoff. So what is the best procedure to safely get off the ground? I pretty much have to perform a sort of ski jump in order to get enough speed to transit into normal forward flight. It seems like a really risky maneuver, so I was wondering if there was a sort of running takeoff that I could perform so that I wouldn't have to dive down the slope first before being able to fly under my own power.

WildBillKelsoe Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) Running Takeoff in the Huey? try right handed takeoff. pedal right, cyclic right and forward when you get to the northern end of the gap bunt it forward then double back to south east. should hurry and avoid powerlines, redline on ias will be exceeded if you want to get the soldier to the ambulance at the farp. by taking power from pedals theoretically you gain 3-5 rpm to the main rotor enough to get you floating. just dont slap the skids because theyre not springloaded and will shatter easily.
