dresoccer4 Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Hey guys - i just got this module and i'm having trouble starting up my engine. in that i can't start it at all :( i believe i followed the manual to the T (except i think it's outdated as the primer doesn't change fuel pressure). as the kicker, the AUTO START also fails to start the engine! so my question is, can anyone else start it? i'm really confused because if auto-start doesn't work then i dont know what makes sense in this world anymore  Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules

Write out the process you are using.
Redglyph Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 I also noticed that priming didn't change the pressure gauge, at least when following the training session. I'll have to check in the manual in case there is a missing step, but this looked strange. However, I could also start the engine without any problem. Andy1966 Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Hello, the start procedure I use: 1: all switches off 2: battery and fuel pump breakers on, run one pump till pressure gage stops rising (about 1/4 of gage sweep) then 1 shot prime. turn pump off. (she seems to flood easy) 3:f8 and f4 to have Chief run starter, while starter is coming up to speed, turn on mags, ignition ,crack throttle slightly. 4: when chief yells "clear", pull starter handle until engine fires at least 3 or 4 times in a row then release starter, if engine quits firing, pull starter handle again as this will close booster coil switch for mags. for a hotter spark while starting 5: when engine is running, quickly turn on fuel pump, generator, warm engine till temps start to rise. Art-J Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 (edited) Priming won't change the fuel pressure reading, as the gauge reads after engine pump, so it won't work until engine runs. Anyway, Andy's procedure above is quite radical and aimed at preserving as much battery power as possible. Procedure in tutorial mission is more simple and bulletproof, works even in winter conditions, though one needs to keep the starter engaged longer then. dresoccer4 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Posted August 21, 2016 thanks for the responses guys, i was losing it! finally figured out what i did wrong. for some reason i was flipping the "engine stop" lever up, thinking it was some sort of cutoff that needed to be turned off. but not having the auto start work definitely added to the confusion Acer Predator Triton 700 || i7-7700HQ || 512GB SSD || 32GB RAM || GTX1080 Max-Q || FFB II and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle || All DCS Modules
WildBillKelsoe Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Startup Help try this procedure sequence 1- VPULQIB980 circuit breakers in 2- Radiator 3- Pump 15 full pumps 4- Pump selector to P1+P2 5- Run inertial 6- at Clear, Mags from 0 to 1+2 as fast as you can 7- Pull starter till engine takes over (crack throttle slightly) 8- Put RPM to 600 just above the 5. 9- Put radiator to Automatik 10- monitor oil coolant and fuel pressure gauges. for the engine stop lever its normally back and down away from throttle during start (running position).
