Hi,

Is there a way to select a default location for scripts and profiles for T.A.R.G.E.T?

When I create a new profile with the GUI and try to save it, it always puts me (if I remember well) in the C:\ folder. I would like another default location.

Also, on the GUI there is a stock and custom quick profile setup, but no idea where the custom profile seeks the profiles, and if there is a way to change this folder to somewhere else.

Thanks

On the first part if I understand correctly yes, - when you choose create a new configuration, the bottom part shows the default location to save it in, just browse to the new location you want to use there in that box.

Yes, I know we can save the new configuration anywhere, but is there a way so T.A.R.G.E.T will always then save there, and open profiles from there, without the need to always browse to that location, each time we want to edit, run or create a new configuration?

Thanks

I am also having this issue.

While it's not a dealbreaker, it certainly is annoying.

In my case the default location is the thrustmaster folder itself, so probably we should be able to change the location somehow.

I'm leaning towards searching the Windows registry for a solution, because I could not find any config file within the Thrustmaster Target folder that I could use to change defaults.

When I check the Thrustmaster Target EDITOR You can actually add more locations into the editor for quick access, but for the Thrustmaster Target Profile editor, that option seem not to be available.

So +1 for this, following the thread and will keep looking into the issue :helpsmilie:

The Thrustmaster Target software should be overhauled and adjusted to follow the OS reference architecture. If so, we could simply choose where to put our profiles folder, or why not place it in the "My Documents" forlder or "Saved Games" folder in a subfolder for the software :smartass:

File location is the least of the things that need to be fixed. The very fact that Target is using old DX calls, limiting you to 32 buttons, is a nearly blinding light compared to other deficiencies.

I don't use the GUI, ever, and merely just open the file I want to run. Target's 'last used file memory' is sufficient for my purposes.

I find the GUI very useful for normal use, we can do a lot of things without having to be a guru programmer ;)

32 buttons is enough for me, as you can also program keystrokes, so you have enough to do anything...

Must be why I never really noticed it either, and have only been using the script editor for a while...

I wonder, what is the advantage in setting up buttons for controllers, and then setup the simulation to use buttons, rather than just setup T.A.R.G.E.T to emulate keyboard?

Try this hack, buddy:

It works!

Edit:

Ok, disregard...

Just saw you were already active in that thread.

Thanks for the tip.

Yes, I was already aware of the hack, the issue is that you should not need it.

Btw, there aren't too many significant threads on this forum that I am not aware of, even if I haven't posted in them. :smartass:

In fact I have noticed the script editor keep the last folder used, so we could put the scripts anywhere.

I have even put a file association so .tmc files will open in the script editor when I double click on them, so I just have to double click then click run.

Though about the folder used, the issue lies with the GUI now. The GUI creates a .fcf file in the folder you want, that is fine. But behind it also creates a .tmc file, but then this file is put in user folder, appdata, and I don't like this, as this is the kind of folder that get lost usually when I reinstall my computer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the .fcf file is just the GUI file, but all the programming is in the .tmc one, right?

And what happen if we modify the .tmc, then open the .fcf file again and do more changes? Will our .tmc changes get lost ?

I wonder, do you think I should learn to get rid of the GUI, and do all the programming in the .tmc file myself? Is it hard to do? Too bad the script editor does not have syntax highlights. Though this is convenient to be able to do changes then just click run to test them.

Thanks
