Not sure which forum to ask this in so if I chose the wrong one, mods please redirect. I have an ever increasing number of the _backup.** files in each of my installs. Am up to 21 in my Final Release install, 17 in my 2.0 Alpha install, and 26 in my Open Beta install. I was wondering if they are ALL required to be kept in the install or can the older ones be deleted. Simply trying to reduce the amount of unnecessary data on my SSD's and like to keep things tidy. Thanks to anyone who knows.

If all is running well you can delete them.

They are obsolete.

They're leftovers from custom mods, which were not deactivated properly before running a game update (when updater detects some altered file, it doesn't delete it, but moves it to backup folder and downloads stock replacement).

Make sure to correctly disengage/engage mods during patching process and You'll avoid clogging up Your install with this trash.

Thanks a bunch for the replys. Been using JSGME for some time now and I always deactivate my mods before I let the sim update. These are probably carryovers from before. They are history now!

If you see a re-occurrence look at which file is being DCS backed up and make sure it's properly being handled by JSGME.
