JG4_Sputnik Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I still don't think this device is going to help DCS much. It may be cool to flip leavers but for actual flying I think one is better suited with an actual flight stick...?
Goblin Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I don't think they will help us in the VR cockpit either... Not if we're using a HOTAS anyway. Letting go of the stick or throttle, pick up a touch unit, flip the switch, put the touch unit down and then gripping the stick/throttle again... It sounds too cumbersome to me.
KLR Rico Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I have no doubt that it'd be totally useless for flight sims. I was interested in them for all the stand-up VR games, but not $250 interested. I was thinking like half that, at most. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS
hansangb Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I don't know. The Vive controller is beyond awesome. In terms of tracking and ease of use. I think it would make a great addition *if* the tracking is as good as Vive's unit. I too thought for DCS, Vive's controller would be redundant. And while it doesn't work in DCS, I realized that hand controllers are more than what I thought it was going to be (due to such accurate tracking) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Phantom88 Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Well,That makes it a very easy decision for me....NOPE Patrick
cichlidfan Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Well, apparently the FCC has not cleared the product yet, so they can't sell it, at least in the US, until that happens. ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero, i7-6700K, Noctua NH-D14 Cooler, Crucial 32GB DDR4 2133, Samsung 950 Pro NVMe 256GB, Samsung EVO 250GB & 500GB SSD, 2TB Caviar Black, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 8GB, Corsair HX1000i, Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor, VX2258 TouchScreen, TIR 5 w/ProClip, TM Warthog, VKB Gladiator Pro, Saitek X56, et. al., MFG Crosswind Pedals #1199, VolairSim Pit, Rift CV1
Astronut Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I suspect in the US they will come to about $200. That puts the Rift/Touch combination at $800 - the same as the Vive. No big surprise there.
