Dear Simshaker community,

 

I recently jumped into simshaker and I have been looking more carefully at the different configurations to finetune it to my taste.

I am trying to reverse engineer how it works to adjust some effects to be more of my liking.

(I am especially tagetting an annoying recurrent powerfull bump of vibration that repeats every 10s or so when flying the f14 and that is probably associated with some engine rumble)

 

I am trying to make sense of the list of effects displayed in SSA Effect Settings tab vs information listed in SSA log tab vs the files stored in SimShaker-Wings FXs folder.

I have a simshaker pad and the UWV editor is therefore unfortunately useless.

 

I understand that the response of actuators is defined in json files in the folders \Documents\SimShaker-Wings FXs\SimShaker_Pad\Base and \Documents\SimShaker Pad Handler samples\Base, and that both folders are actually used for reference

I understand the json file determines which actuators to activate, the amplitude of the response, and how long it will last, and this is normally what is configurable in UWV Editor for the Jetseat.

 

Please correct me if I am wrong.

 

First: Is there any easy way to visualize to which json corresponds each effect displayed in the plane profile of SSA? Because the relationship does not seem always obvious from the name.

Second: What is the use of VibId and where is it used?

Third: What are the other values displayed in the log after the name the json? Is the gain the strength of the jetseat as per the parameter editable in Effect Settings tab?

Yes, sometimes it's not as much obvious as we'd prefer. Recommended way to adjust the samples:

1) Disable all other effects except the one you adjusting in the SSA settings.

2) Enable logging in SSA or SimShaker Pad handler. Watch which samples are called for this effect and adjust them.

3) When you are happy with the effect, go to the next one to adjust.

4) Don't forget disable logging when finished as it may affect the app performance.

In SSA log, some effect sent have "Change gain, gain1 =" value

Is this gain the same thing as the parameter "strength of the jetseat" or it is something else?

Ok, this is one way to approach it in term of reverse engineering, thanks for your suggestion, I will try it for the specific one that is bothering me.

The caveat here is that to perfrom this test we need to ensure the effect is effectively triggered in the game to its full extent, which is not always easy. I was hoping for a way to trigger the effect independently of DCS, if possible.

I was also hoping somebody would have the mapping of Simshaker effects vs Jsons.

It depends. In most cases they are equal or at least proportional to each other.  But inside the app the gain can be a subject of a one way change, if needed.

Hi guys I need a hand.   Sadly my jetseat died and I’ve just replaced it with a HF8.    However I cannot get a output to the seat in game no matter what I do.    It sees it in the software, I can run the test motors function with zero issues, but in game I get ZERO output.

 

im getting no errors and I’m only running the latest Simshaker beta software. 
 

I attach a photo of my script lua file below.    
 

I do use a Rhino FFB stick which also uses a script file, obviously turning that off isn’t a option.   
 

The seat works fine with the next level software if I turn that on, but simshakers just will not play and the next level software effects are rather poor to say the least.

Ok, after lots of messing around, I completely wiped the export.lua and manually redid it all and it does now seem to work, APART from I don’t seem to have any engine vibrations in the F18 and if I fire the gun the effect stops working after a second or two.

 

pulling G however works an absolute treat as does stalling the aircraft, gear weapons etc.   I can feel them all.

Is it normal to still feel the tremble of the plane after ejecting?

It seems to happen quite often with f14.

I would expect the ejection to be some type of cut-off of all the plane effects.

I m still relatively new to Simshaker.

DCS Export telemetry is about the plane and not the pilot. And there is no any sign of the ejection itself in it.
Hence, it seems we can do nothing with this side effect. Sorry.

Understood, so it is something that should be looked at by DCS developers... for them to send a specific event in case of ejection or stop sending telemetry after ejection.

I am thinking about those with motion platform, movements must get somehow violent if the motion platform keeps on responding to erratic plane movements  while it is falling from the sky. They must have some type of cutoff.

Would there be anyway to implement some type of cutoff simshaker/motor response when a certain button is pressed?

Well, SimShaker Pad and related software is in development and I listen carefully to suggestions for improvement. Regarding this matter, I placed the controls of the pad at the low back area intentionally. In order they to be easy reachable. If you move the power toggle-switch on the seat controller you can get this motor cutoff very quickly.
Is this solution good enough or you'd prefer to have something different?

I was not referring here to a HW button to cut-off, as it will never be immediate, taking (at least for me) some 5 seconds to locate and switch the physical button.

I was thinking of a cut-off through some button which Simshaker software would detect, in response Simshaker would stop sending signal to the actuators till the mission ends, regardless of the telemetry sent by DCS.

Then it could be potentially map to the Eject button in DCS.

I am probably oversimpifying it, and I am fully aware that there might be more complexities under the hood that what I m seeing from outside, but thanks for exploring if it might be feasible.

Such option is not certain and most likely not universal. Perhaps @f4l0 will want to give you such an opportunity, it's hard to say.

@=Andre= Im having a tad bit of a problem with the controller on my cushion. What are the odds I might be able to procure another one? My beagle had a litter of pups and some of them thought it would be cute to chew on the cable and yeah.

If you mean the Gametrix controller, the odds are very little as the hardware produced by Gametrix is sold out.
I produce my own design vibrating seats with my own design controller as a replacement now. But multiple sanctions against the country where I reside block interaction between me and customers abroad. You need someone in Russia/Belarus/Kazakhstan/etc. to get hardware from me.

Re Jet seat snag; I have all the internals in a box after mine stopped working, I don't know why it stopped working but your welcome to them to try and fix yours if you want. I'm in the UK.

A bit late now as I took it apart looking for anything obvious. (Bits still intact but now in a box) but hopefully a fix for others.

It might just need a soldering iron, to keep it from detaching I have to kink the cable under the controller to keep it from jiggling. Andre, how hard is it to replace that hardware? Would I need to replace the cable leading to the seat as well?

I wouldn't say it's hard if your seat is SimShaker JetPad. A few guys already did it on premises and they didn't complaint it was hard. All the cables were replaced.

It is one of your seats, so I dont expect it to be that difficult. I also recall you shipping through a buddy in Kazakhstan when I ordered this from you a year ago, that no longer feasible?
