VAF [136] Striker Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 We've tried a bunch of different times to get these to work with no effect. Pitch black night, clear visibility. Tried on different servers, in single player in multi-player and nothing. Rear switch set to the correct position, nose up 20-30 degrees fire off a pair and wait about 15 seconds and nothing. So I would like to know what's going on. Are we missing something in the settings? Why are target illumination rockets modeled for the Ka-50 but not functional? razo+r Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 They need a lot of time to deploy, so maybe try it with more pitch up and altitude
VAF [136] Striker Posted October 9, 2016 Author Posted October 9, 2016 Have you actually tried them and got them to work in the Ka-50? I was at about 500 feet and even tried pitching up over 30 degrees and still nothing. We tried it on the Buddyspike server. razo+r Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 They work, just pitch more up and let them fly enough long

VAF [136] Striker Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 They work, just pitch more up and let them fly enough long Figured it out. Not more pitch but less pitch needed. When at about 150 meters altitude pitch the rocket reticle up to between 5 and 10 degrees on the pitch ladder. If you're pitched too high they illuminate but way too high above the ground to have any effect. If you do it at 5-7 degrees the illumination lasts for about 40 seconds. If you count to 18 after the first group starts lighting the ground and then fire off the next group and keep doing this over and over you can keep the ground continuously lighted at 6-8 km away. If you pitch too low or not at all they just crash into the ground because the parachute doesn't have time to open. BaD CrC Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I heard ED recently changed the behavior of those S-80. I used to pitch 30-40 degrees for a 4 km out area to illuminate. Now those values are not good anymore, but I haven't tried since the change. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Slazi Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Great tool for night missions when flying with other Ka-50s. If only the AI knew to run from the light.
