gavagai Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 That's just the thing guys. It's a catch 22 situation. Right now, I have the time to play but not the money. I want to become a doctor, and eventually I'll have the money to play but not the time. Doubt I'll have time in college or med school either Some friends of mine from college became medical doctors. One of them works 3 weeks on, then 2 weeks off. She still makes enough to pay her bills and afford a mortgage and loves her free time. You might have more free time in college than you do now in high school depending on whether or not you work a part-time job. Better to have kick-ass grades and do a lab internship than slave for pennies at the campus book store... cichlidfan Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I don't know what it is like now but when I was in high school, a very long time ago, a friend of mine was in the Civil Air Patrol. He flies for a living now. Pilots with medical knowledge are always employable. MegOhm_SD Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 @MRaza. Tell us what your specs are. I have a, not very new, but serviceable mobo, CPU, cooler, memory package that is sitting on the shelf. It is an i7-2600k with a Noctua cooler, 8GB of Corsair memory on an ASUS mobo, whose model I don't recall at the moment. I also have a few GPU's laying around that might serve as well. I even have an extra PSU if you need it. PM me and we can work out the details. This would be a gift, so no money is needed on your part. Just a wonderful gesture...I don't have any spare parts but I would be willing to throw in a module. I'm still on an i5-2500K and it runs DCS beautifully with a GTX970. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
cichlidfan Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 That's more than just serviceable. I'm still on an i5-2500K and it runs DCS beautifully with a GTX970. For DCS, specifically, that chip is probably very similar in performance to the i7-2600k. Both overclock very nicely as well. Drag0nWIng Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 dude, study well and keep your eyes in good sight/ well healthy, don't forget to keep fit. you still have chance to be a real pilot. enjoy your young teens age... that's pretty precious... If on my opinion, just cost less time on DCS at this situation, you can read and study more about aeroplane, you will have lots of time to play and money to buy a good pc in the future. best wishes.
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 One of the many reasons publishers hate the PC crowd is how we cling to a title. If it's good, we won't move on. Flight simmers are the ultimate manifestation of this. After all, people still play Falcon 4.0 and Il-2 '46. Both of those are in your age group in the most literal sense, too. Actually, 4.0 is older than you. People still play it. As long as ED has customers to serve, they will serve. And, as long as ED serves, I'm willing to bet they will have customers and players. Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
Toxe Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 How long do you guys think this game will be around? At the Day of Reckoning DCS will be the harbinger of our destruction. I don't see this going away soon.
