vu733gt Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Dear pilots, I would like to ask you, what would be the settings or way of using our Su-25 A or T, to simulate current capabilities of this aircraft in real world. As I know there is not so much SU-25T´s in real world with TV, or better to say with vikhr missiles and Shkval targeting system. What would you say, which way to use the Su-25A/T to simulate real world russian Su-25 for example in Syria? Would it be the Su-25T but without using the Shkval and only use HUD for targeting? Hopefuly you´ll understand what I wanted to say. Thank you
Bufo Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I do not see what the problem is with SU-25T + vikhr. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
pepin1234 Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) Su-25T was used in Georgia war, Su-25A was used in Afganisthan and Chechenia war and what you see in Syria is Su-25SM. SM version receive target from from external source. SM3 version have an improved targeting system but still keep getting targets from 3th units. You can't use the current Su-25A/T in DCS to simulate Syria war because they have different avionic than SM version Edited October 16, 2016 by pepin1234 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Gierasimov Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Simulate Su-25T in Georgia then. As said there is a difference in avionics in SM. BTW - was Su-25 even deployed to Syria? Though it was Su-24, -34 and some Tupolev's? Frostie Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Su25 would be used with rockets and bombs to attack infantry and motorised units as well as being part of a larger package against installations and airbases. Su25T would be for attacking tank battalions pretty much like the A-10 and now in a similar fashion probably considered an obsolete role. "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. Boberro Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Su-25 was used (still is perhaps) in Syria. New SM3 equipment finally should get targeting pod similar to A-10C one. It took Russians 20 years to build a TV all weather pod. Nonetheless Su-25T is rather so rare that almost non existant. There should not be any left as probably all of them were upgraded to TM standard and used as test lab for SM suites. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... VFA15-Juliet Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Hog is not obsolete Su25 would be used with rockets and bombs to attack infantry and motorised units as well as being part of a larger package against installations and airbases. I don't think so Frostie, Hog is still needed in today's conflict although its deployment role adapted new conflicts style an doctrines.. Juliet

Juliet I didn't say it is not needed I pretty much alluded to your opinion in that its original role is not needed. 1 "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. VFA15-Juliet Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Not needed now but there are still scenarios where it could just shine like a star in its intended role. Eastern NATO flank is still not secure despite the best diplomacy efforts. But that is completely different topic. 1
Isegrim Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 (edited) Isnt that a SU-25TM / SU-39 ?!?! I See a Kopjo Radar Pod there and R-77s. Uhh i would give my .... ahm .... i defenitly have currently no idea what. But i would really give something very special to see this Bird fully simulated as Module in DCS. Absolutely, but funds are the major player and always tight, making Su25SM to the same spec as 25T ie.Vikhr, is an unnecessary route in todays climate. To add to that Russia already has a wealth of attack choppers that are classed as an effective anti tank platform while being much more powerful and survivable than the US equivalent which the A-10 imo presides over. Gierasimov Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I agree but... It is still worth having some tank busting aerial capability just in case. Today's conflicts is a call for other arms though but can't forget what happened in August 2008 in Georgia where columns of heavy stuff just drove through the border unstopped...
