How big is the online comunity

I'm writing an article for an magazine and a question is: How many people are there flying online with all the sims of the market? thousands? more? less?

Can you get the servers that run stats to do a select distinct() from their db?

Pilot count on 504 stats server shows over 3000 pilots even if some have changed their names.

Lockon Id guess about 500 give or take at any one time.

Yeah I mean you might be able to run an app that averages how many pilots are in hyperlobby or Ubi over a given period of time- I'm sure Jiri knows- or could know if he wanted. But how can you count the guys that link to each other directly? Who knows.

I could not even guess how many active flight sim players there are on line. But why would people change there names? Thats how we get to know each other.

Here's some hard data for you Zag... At Ubi-online, in a 6 day period, I went in for about 8 minutes a day and pm'd people (remember there's no text lounge at Ubi) to convey to them of the existence of hyperlobby... out of interest, and so as not to be an annoyance I tracked who I pm'd. Here are the results... Remember 6 days, 8 minutes... and the result was 150 unique player names

All sims online? If you wait until MS Flight Sim X launches this week with all of their spiffy online stuff, I'd bet the number drastically inscreases well into six digit territory, maybe more.
