Reflected Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I'm quite new to mission building, and I'd like to know the following: - How do I get an AI Huey gunship to attack a ground target after spawning? His 2nd waypoint is right above the target, his task there is "Attack map object", but still, he doesn't do anything. - How do I make troops board the chopper? Their task is to "Embark Transport" but they just stand there. I've heard it's broken? - How do I set up the mission in a way that sling loads are automatically unhooked once delivered to a given area? - How do I set up the direction in which the player's Huey spawns on the heli pad? It's not facing the wind by default, and I would like it to spawn on another pad of the 4. Thanks a lot in advance! Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Looney Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 For the second question, use the very good CTLD script as currenltly embarking seems to be broken. For the third question, also look into CTLD script. If it's a player helo that needs to do the dropping, they have to use the correct buttons  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Commodore 64 | MOS6510 | VIC-II | SID6581 | DD 1541 | KCS Power Cartridge | 64Kb | 32Kb external | Arcade Turbo
Los Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Be advise there is currently an unfixed bug in DCS, so loading and unloading troops via waypoints in the ME is broken. However it can be easily accomplish using the CTLD scripts. Go to this website DL, pull up teh read.me and a cup of coffee and learn. Also has sample missions, that you can take and modify. https://github.com/ciribob/DCS-CTLD Los
Reflected Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 Thanks for the advice! Been working hard on the mission, and now it's basically finished, the only thing missing is the embarking of the troops. ED just confirmed they are looking into this, so I'll just wait patiently, and release the mission once it's done. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
DarkFire Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Did you get the attacking ground targets to work? Normally aircraft need some distance between their IP waypoint and the actual position to be attacked. Not sure if it's the same for choppers... Not sure, it always gets shot down by laser beam AA before it could fire its rockets :megalol: Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Pikey Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 was the first one because he didnt have weapons that coudl kill the target? Usually only bombs and cruise missiles can attack map objects by nature of their sturdiness, the AI doesnt try to engage things out of its depth (ie Infantry stare at tanks) ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *

Should be able to take it out... In ME, do I have to place the attack map object triangle on the truck itself, even though it will have moved forward by the time the AI Huey gets there? ex81 Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Same here. I wanted two hueys to attack a unit of armed trucks. They never even try it. Just circle a while in the sky and then go to next waypoint. So why can the hueys be armed when they are not able to fight????? What goes up, must come down ! The Attack map object command is not designed to be used for attacking objects that you can place on the map, it is for the buildings, etc that are a hardwired part of the map itself, so it is more of an attack this building at grid co-ordinate xxxxx. To have choppers attack moving vehicles, you would need a CAS role for the huey flight. You can then use advanced waypoint commands such as Search and engage, Search and engage in zone, etc. Regards, Ian.
