Generic Day Fighter Scheme

Quick and dirty...

 

This skin is meant to be used as a generic paint scheme for the DCS Spitfire Mk.IXc. Using the default standard RAF skin as a guide, I adjusted the nationality markings to standard proportions, changed the colour of the Fighter Command fuselage ID band and prop spinner to "Sky" and removed any other markings from the default MH434 skin. What you have now is the standard Day Fighter paint scheme for the Spitfire, with no squadron or pilot's personal markings.

 

 

 

 

Cleaned up some other things, removed the extra fuel caps drawn on the upper surface of the wings (MH434, a modern day airshow performer, has no guns so non-standard wing tanks were added to the empty ammunition bays for greater range), although they still show up faintly due to the normal map which I haven't played with yet.

Hi Jocko.

I have installed your skin.Thanks very much for doing this.I would like to add some codes on the side.Is this very difficult?I can see you can add some letters in the mission editor but I can not get AL to be between the roundel and the white strip.Then how do you place PV270 after that? I am not up top speed on DCS skinning. How do I adjust this skin to give particular squadrons Letters and numbers? It seems that whatever I put in the 'Tail #' section in the Mission Editor gets put on the side as squadron letters but also as the aircraft serial number. So I can put in 'USR' for 56sqn and it will look great in white either side of the roundel but it will also say 'MHUSR' in black as the serial number.
