Krupi Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Just wondered what happened to this... See under the rudder trim. WIP Released There remains a mark on the cockpit skin, perhaps it will return? bongodriver Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 (edited) Port and Stbd suggests wing tank modification which is only applicable to modern day Spitfires and marks other than Mk V and IX, it certainly was not a period feature on Mk IX's, I think this must be a remnant from ED's development using the current MH434 for reference and somebody forgot to take out the AO shading in the model. DD_Fenrir Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 The fuel transfer facility is not a feature of stock WW2 Mk IX Spitfires - there are no left or right fuel tanks! However, MH434, the OMFC's Spitfire IX (which appears to have been heavily referenced for the DCS model as a number of it's unique features have found their way into development screenies and indeed the early release) does have an after war modification of two extra tanks in the ammo/gun bays. It would therefore suggest that these fuel transfer switches are present in MH434 to aid in fuel management and as such at an early stage these were modelled. However, they should not be present in a WW2 period airframe and as such have been deleted. *I see Bongo sniped me!*
Krupi Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 I think it is actually from the PR Spitfires which actually had wing tanks. They are certainly period switches not modern, wish I hadn't purchased them for my build now DOH!!! bongodriver Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Yes there were WWII Spits with wing tanks so the switches probably are period but the installation on a fighter variant of the Mk IX is not.
razo+r Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 The texture for that is still in the cockpit texture, so looks like they just deleted the model for now

That is why I said PR spitfires ;) Windows 10 Pro | ASUS RANGER VIII | i5 6600K @ 4.6GHz| MSI RTX 2060 SUPER | 32GB RAM | Corsair H100i | Corsair Carbide 540 | HP Reverb G2 | MFG crosswind Pedals | Custom Spitfire Cockpit Project IX Cockpit
