Hello!

First of I am very noob to 3d modelling.

I was playing few days ago with creating simple 3d objects and then looking at them in ModelViewer. So basically i applied ONE bitmap to object, which for simple objects works fine.

But what if I am creating some complex objects, and say I want to make the that complex object by parts. And obviously I want texture those parts separately. How can i have ONE bitmap(one texture file basically) when I join all parts together?

Thanks.

If creating a model you want High detail on some parts, say a 4k map then i would suggest that you break the model down into what you want high and what you want low, then make the textures files accordingly. For the Alligator, I made a few 4k maps for say the hull and the deck, the rest ranged from 1k to 2k depending on the level of detail i wanted to show.

Basically what Discus177 said.

You do what every 3d artist loves doing......... UVW unwrap...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
