jozeff Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Hello everybody, Recently started using dcs and loving it! Have been flying in fsx and xplane for years but wanted to try something more exciting and new. My question is: how to you guys pick a takeoff airport. Does that mean creating a simple mission or can I choose it another way. Im stuck in free flight and want something else but not jump in some sort of battle. Just practice the Huey! Thanks. Jozeff
dan0h Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) Create yourself a dummy mission you can use, I have one set up for just playing around and experimenting with things. Remember you'll need a ground unit in place to be able to use ground power and talk to your crew! Enjoy! The mission editor is pretty easy to get along with and mostly self explanatory, but there are many really good guides from basic to advanced littering YouTube. Should only take you a few minutes to pick up the basics needed to add an aircraft to the base of your choice. Edited March 8, 2017 by dan0h Added extra...
Rudel_chw Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 ... My question is: how to you guys pick a takeoff airport. Does that mean creating a simple mission or can I choose it another way. Yes ... the only way to choose your initial airbase is to use the mission editor and either modify an existing mission to suit your taste ... or just build one from scratch. I cant emphsize enough the pleasure that you can get from making up your own missions ... when I first came to DCS I was just like you, just using the canned missions ... ... the Misssion Editor has a quite unfriendly user interface, but if you take your time learning to use it, and starting with creating simple missions at first, I can promise that it will grow on you :) Its really nice to get to choose the time of day, the airport, the route, the weather .. that you want to have on your flight. To get you started, may I suggest the tutorials made by Banjo: FRgwrBV4sdE :D For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
dan0h Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 That's the one I watched myself a few months back when I started to get back in to DCS :)
grunf Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Remember you'll need a ground unit in place to be able to use ground power and talk to your crew! No need for ground unit, but the airfield has to be in the same coalition, which can be set in mission editor.
jozeff Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 Wow thank you all! The flightsim world is filled with friendly people:) Ill give things a shot tonight Tnx Jozeff
Art-J Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 No need for ground unit, but the airfield has to be in the same coalition, which can be set in mission editor. ...done by just left-clicking on the airport and choosing "blue" or "red" from the airport properties menu popping up on the right. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
milit Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Jozeff, if you came from fsx, try to find radnav charts of Rostov and Tbilisi FIRs, make a simple mission with a ramp start in a/p you like and fly anywhere usng ndbs and other nav tools avalable in DCS. I think you'll get a fun :) Отправлено с моего GT-I9082 через Tapatalk =WRAG=345 R7 5800X @ 4,8 GHz; DDR4 64Gb RAM (+32Gb swap); Radeon RX 6800 16Gb; 3840x2160; Oculus Quest 3; Win10-64
