Hey wingmen, sorry dumb question... Is there any way or little trick in knowing which end of the Runway to take-off from after taxiing from the parking area. A couple of times I've seen my wingmen up the other end waiting as doofus me is at the wrong end of the path that takes you to the runway. I'll take a guess and say where you start is in front of the ATC Tower? Is this correct or is there some easier way of determining this? :helpsmilie::pilotfly:

You can check the correct ATC frequency from the F10 map view and by clicking the airport you are at. Alternatively, you should always be taking off into (against) the wind as that will make your take-off shorter due to relative airspeed.

Interesting, thank you kindly good people and I would be interested in checking out your reference chart cthulhu68 if that's ok :-)

For the smaller airfields you can also take a quick look at your compass. The number of the runway is dictated by its direction (Runway 23 for example points roughly to heading 230).

That's what I'm talkin about!! Thanks Kang man :-)

So, interestingly, AI and ATC will change the runway to go into the prevailing wind, if its a bideirectional runway, automagically. Some are limited to one direction like Batumi, due to the approach being too hilly. ATC should, and doesn't, provide this to you until your request takeoff, then he will tell you the runway. ATIS is a service that's missing (and recently added with a payware mod called Univers radio) that tells you the runways in use when you are not at this point. You could add and AI runway startup for when you start the game and watch where he spawns to get the correct one initially without any further information.

My chart was just pictures of bases I scribbled on paper. Kang pointed out the easiest way to know which end is which.

What happened to requesting taxi to takeoff? They tell me which runway is in use then.
