Hokum15 Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I purchased flaming cliffs thought gritted teeth, as i hate starforce with a vengence... well it's not making me like it... Updated to the latest catalysts drivers and now starforce will not run the game, just says error, hardware has changed... Without having to uninstall and reinstall (i dont have to do this on any other games) is there a way to fix it?
hitman Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Lets take this one easy. Did you buy the download version of FC? Is it LockOn Gold? Flaming Cliffs from NaturalPoint?
SuperKungFu Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 i believe its probably the download version since its the only version that monitors the hardware change...etc. I guess you have to use one of your activations? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Hokum15 Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 Hi its the gold version upgraded to 1.12a. I've reinstalled the game now, it seems a little "clunky" having to do that and set it all back up if i change a graphics driver!
hitman Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 You should update your drivers. Theres no reason why starforce should force you to do anything. If that problem persists I would go over to the starforce website and get information from them.
JCC Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I had the same situation with the gold version when I upgraded my video card. I just put the CD back in the drive and let Starforce do it's thing. Everything was fine after that. No need to re-install. JCC

It told you: "error, hardware has changed..." or words to that effect? Because, until you said that, I thought that Hokum15 had installed the wrong V1.12a patch and was going to suggest as much. You mean the CD version of SF is also tracking hardware? I was under the impression the CD version only checked to see if you had the disk. zorlac Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 I added an extra Gig of memory over the weekend, and LO:FC Starforce barked at me for the CD.
emenance Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I changed my DVD drive from a light on to a samsung and starforce didnt say anything about it. I have the dl version and use new activations. Zayets Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I have to say as well that I added one RAM stick and this stupid Starforce made me to lose one activation! When I will change the CPU I will probably have the same thing again. ED owns me now 1 activation, maybe more in future. [sIGPIC]OK[/sIGPIC]
Guest IguanaKing Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 StarForce shouldn't force you to reactivate after adding a Gig of memory, it didn't in my case anyway. I also didn't need to reactivate after changing DVD RW drives, video cards, or adding a second video card. It DEFINITELY shouldn't need reactivation after installing a new video driver. I'm not sure how to help, but this behavior from StarForce is not normal. I recently had to use up another activation when I switched from XP x64 back to the 32-bit version of XP, but that's to be expected. Are you guys sure you didn't change anything else in your systems?
