Disc space needed for 2.0 + NTTR

I see each says 30gb of drive space required. Is that 60gb total or does the 30gb listed for DCSW 2.0 include the NTTR map?

Yes, it includes the NTTR map.

 

My install with all but 2 modules is just under 33GB.

My 2.0 Open Alpha install with Nevada is 59.8 GB. I have many but not all modules.

 

My 1.5 install is more like 30 GB.

Dburne, If I were You, I would run a cleanup command on Your 2.0 copy, or just browse through it, because it seems You might be having some duplicate files left from the times You installed NTTR ("some" being twice the whole terrain in this case).

Maybe it's because mine is a brand new install? Just installed it 6 days ago - and flown it a couple of times.

Mine has been in since initial release of 2.0 Open Alpha.

There are command prompts you can clean and/or repair, however I am not familiar with them.

Skatezilla has a DCS Updater Utility that will do the same I believe.

 

I have not tried it yet...

I have near 60 Gb too. Was reinstalled recently, vanilla. It depends on modules quantity very much.

Also you have to mind that 2.0 requires a significant amount of free space for update files (they will be deleted after updater finishes its work). The last update required near 18 Gb.

I have been browsing through all my folders and can't really see anything that looks abnormal.

Just the Nevada terrain by itself is 33 GB on my install, and that is not counting any of the aircraft modules and other things along with World itself...

My open alpha install is 71 gb....7.8gb which are extra files mainly skins.

Remove your user mods if you have any, and backup any changes

 

go into your Eagle Dynamics/DCS World Openalpha/bin folder.

 

There, hold Left Shift and right click and click "Open Command window here."

 

Then, type the following exactly as printed:

 

DCS_updater.exe cleanup

 

this will delete all non official files

 

then do a dcs repair

 

DCS_updater.exe repair

This is weird - I'm going to go and run mine again to make sure it has everything.

 

I ticked all of my modules, which is everything except the 109 and 190. I have had a lot of hassle with uninstalls and reinstalls etc after a recent upgrade to my PC - so I may be mistaken and have flown the NTTR missions in the last installation I did (it's been a very hectic 2 weeks with PC and O/S issues).

 

I'll double check and get back again.

I really was not surprised 2.0 would be significantly larger than 1.5 due to the higher mesh terrain/textures... but I certainly am not that knowledgeable in that area.

 

Strange that other users are reporting similar size as well. I would certainly be surprised to know 2.0 is smaller in size than 1.5.

 

Anyway regarding a DCS cleanup and repair, I wonder if that wipes out ones controller mappings?

I just started up DCSW 2.06 and got this:

have some sympathy - I'm getting on a bit and take a lot of morphine...

 

PS - now I remember - I had done the flights on the previous install (testing for those 3D SBS videos) - but had to go back to Win7 cos Win10 was playing up since I let MS support play with it remotely, then I tried to keep it to save downloading it all again, but it wouldn't accept the reactivations, so I ditched it and started downloading again.

 

But that was so slow, it would have taken days to download (about 600kB/s) but normally I get a good 8MB/s - and hope I will now...

 

I'll let you know the size when it's finished.
