I think I would want the acceleration option because my neck only turns to 90° left/right. So that's all I could get out of VR. But my eyes turning adds an additional 15-20°, which I don't get. But TIR acceleration can help me there.

I don't have VR yet, so maybe I'll change my mind.

Well, I can see how that is an issue for you. Does your chair swivel? That would help a bit.

I find it amusing too. I guess we are all looking for different experiences in flight simming. My enjoyment is getting as close to the real experience of flying an aeroplane as I can. I have a full size Spitfire cockpit and the Rift complements this beautifully. Others will have different priorities like becoming a combat ace and getting to the top of a leader board.

And that is fine, there is nothing wrong with that, but they should call it what it is. ;)

I'm like you. I am looking for the experience. I don't need to be at the top of a leader board.

No, I have a Volair Sim cockpit, which uses a racing seat. Those seats don't let your body twist, so all you have to turn is your neck and eyes..

Sorry to hear ED is not interested in this technology. What the guy in the video says it that current VR headsets loose image clarity as the image is compressed to compensate for lens refraction. When the lens magnify the image again, you get a larger view of a lower resolution image.

My main reason not to buy the current gen VR headsets is related to this. When i look at things at distance, things are blurry and hard to make out. Exactly what he describes in the video. I think a flight sim is the hardest thing to do in VR, as your "bubble of clear view" has to be large to compensate for the speed of a jet fighter.

I guess tough, what ED is reluctant about at the moment, is to state that they are supporting a particular tech when the market is in a flux and the future is unsure. Lets just hope that they are looking at this as Nvidia not only promise better image clarity, but also less demands on the GPU.

That is a video editing trick as said in the video description ie. he doesn't see his hands while playing.

:doh:Hey good catch I didn't even see the description.

Accelerated tracking w/ a HMD would cause Nausea and Dis-Orientation.
