goon3r Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 New huey pilot here, with a weird issue. When I begin any of the missions that start you in the air, the huey immediately starts spinning uncontrollably before I can make any control inputs. 30% of the time I am able to make corrections and avoid breaking the rotors. In general, when I am able to get control the huey it is still unpleasant to fly and seems like I am fighting some other inputs, but that may be down to my inexperience. This only seems to happen with the prepackaged missions. Self-created missions don't have this problem, even with similar payloads and weight. Examples of missions where this happens are the ground attack instant action missions. I don't have this problem with any other modules. I have: Unchecked the option to synchronize HOTAs and in-game controls (I've actually never used this) Verified that I have no other inputs coming from other controllers. Properly, calibrated my throttle, stick and pedals. Any advice here ?
Pluie Posted April 2, 2017 Posted April 2, 2017 Did you try to reduce the throttle before unpause the mission. I had a similar problem in the past and reducing the throttle was the solution
Pluie Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Avoid me to lose the rotor. I know it sound crazy, but that was the solution on my side to be able to enter those missions without loosing my rotor.
goon3r Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 well, I noticed that I was keeping my throttle at 0% when the mission starts so in my case I had to increase. I guess this is just a general DCS behavior on mission load and the huey being unstable as it is, reacts worse than the ka-50 by comparision.
bC3660 Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 You need to set your controls for about where the controls would be for the speed of the aircraft before you unpause.
Sharkku Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 I have the same problem. It's not due to where my controls are before unpausing.
Quadg Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 no its about where your controls are when you first move them after you un pause because by default the game ignores your control position until you move them. unless you have match virtual controls to physical ones on game start ticked in options. and if you first move the collective from zero, then the first thing the game does on unpause and you touching the collective is drop it to zero.. which is bad when the nanosecond before it was in level flight. same goes for throttle cyclic and pedals. if you turn the match controls options on. then you are going to have to check every button on your joystick and throttle to make sure its in the right position, before you start and can see the cockpit starting with your landing gear up on the ground is fun in planes. also dropping fuel bags on the ramp.. why i have that option off. you need to pre flight every plane.. via your physical cockpit and button assignments.. its easier to preflight the virtual one via the virtual cockpit with the mouse.... why its best to start on the ground and give everything a fiddle before you turn on the power... let the virtual controls map to the real controls while they control nothing important why i do a control test with the power off. and bump the throttle over the throttle stop in the a10. so the throttle will work 1st time when i want to start the engines. wiggle, wiggle.. in the air all you can do is get the controls as close to level flight configuration and then ride the bump as the real controls take over the virtual control. put a small input through every control as soon as possible..and you can catch it. the optimum is a small input. so starting as if you are flying really does help... its way worse in helicopters than other aircraft because of the harmony between controls.. or lack of it :) depending on where you are in your helicopter career :) My Rig: AM5 7950X, 32GB DDR5 6000, M2 SSD, EVGA 1080 Superclocked, Warthog Throttle and Stick, MFG Crosswinds, Oculus Rift.
Robert31178 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Add collective before you unpause it. Once you unpause it's pretty much trying to nose dive like in an autorotation, and I have found this to work for me. My unit's CO has all aircraft to airstart on our comms checks map that we run an hour before operations........this has been working for me!!
