Hi guys. I just wanted to say thank you for developing the M2KC. I love the jet, not because i have a plane somehow related to my country, but because you gave us a jet that filled up a gap in DCS that the sim was really needing.

Till now we had super powerfull jets (Mig29-SU33-F15s,etc), capable of kill anything, but arcadish (the amount of work required in an F15 is incredibly low). Then we had more ardasih attackers like the russian one Su-25T. We had a lovely A10C, one of the best in DCS, really usefull for CAS like the KA50, but most of the time those units are isolated from the rest of the gameplay, they attack ground units and return to base. Now we have the M2Kc, not an easy one, with a flight model that is very different to the rest of jets, capable of carrying bombs -> not too many and not as deadly as the A10c, so we have a challenging jet for bombing tasks. Then it can carry AA missiles, and again no AIM120, challenging and very capable of self defending itself against other jets and capable of bombing at the same time. This jet brings me back to DCS world, sim i abandoned like 3 years ago when things started to get slowly developed and no improvements that i liked were in the horizont. Thanks for giving me hopes again!

I agree wholeheartedly!

A testament to the developers. We can fly aircraft like the Mig 21, with very much "direct" flight control and then fly the Mirage with what must be one of the very finest FBW implementations!

I too have just purchased the Mirage. Try going straight from the Mig 21 to the Mirage and you will "feel" the difference.

This is a beautiful simulation, thanks Razbam! Looking forward to the Harrier:smilewink:

Best regards

Hello,

Razbam has truely given us a nice and researched aircraft. Its my favourite now since started fly in VR. Good communication and developing actions.

Thank you, next aircraft you sure get my money

Yes it is a beautiful flying aircraft.

Coming from the F-15...what a learning curvebook.gif

I've tried the training video a few times but it's not really working for me.

So I'm now reading/studying Chuck's guide and the DCS M-2000C flight manual, it's like going back to school. Which do you guys recommend between reading Chuck's guide or the DCS M-2000C flight manual?

Also I need to find a better way to point and click the cockpit controls.

I am using both Chuck's guide and the DCS manual. Check out all the video links in Chuck's guide:thumbup:

I use a Voice Interaction program called Voice Attack. It's only a few $ and gives you a complete voice controlled interface with every switch in the cockpit. Since in DCS we can assign a complete HOTAS from the controls menu, we can also assign commands to Voice Attack. For realism you can just use Voice Attack for all the radio commands. Although I admit to using it for weapons. You can even get it to run macros, several commands consecutively.

I haven't yet got my VR set, but using Voice Attack eliminates the need to click anything in the cockpit. Just say whatever you want...."Magic Select" "Master Arm on"...Etc.

I have been flying simulators since I retired some years ago. This Mirage simulation is the best I have experienced. Thanks Razbam......:D

Thanks Accipiter for that info I will look into it. I am studying and practicing which is finally paying off with my start-ups and landings...still SOOOO much to learnbook.gif I am working on the NAV system now having figured out the implementation of the INS but I'm not exactly sure of the importance of the INS. If I need to know my location there are the kneeboard real-time maps [perhaps a cheat] plus I can call into any of the airfields and using the HSI. What am I missing ?

but I'm not exactly sure of the importance of the INS.?

The ability to enter the coordinates for any location and fly towards it?

The F10 map is basically a cheat.

Using the INS and lists of all airfields, you can fly to any airfield without having to use the all-knowing F10 map. If you have a GCI feeding you target (lat/long) coordinates, it gets even better. You can just enter them, and deliver your GBU's on the coordinates without having to ever look at your magical map. The same goes for landing. Of course you can use stuff like TACAN, but not every airfield uses it, coordinates work everywhere, anytime. And yes, you can call into the ATC (even from 100 miles away), but it's very helpful for your situational awareness, to know how far our you are from a airfield at any given time. Also the ability to enter waypoints based on what a buddy is telling you.

Thanks CrashO. I never use F10 map, I was referring to the 'kneeboard' interactive maps that shows your exact position superimposed as you fly over the Black Sea area, much like the A-10c has.

As for the other info that sounds very much like what GPS would provide, as in the F-18, but using INS instead of satellites.

Start using real ways to navigate, the inmersion is quadruple. Take off, leaving airport CTRs outes through proper routes ( in bad conditions or at night you need navigation systems), going where you want through the route preplanned.... by doing this, you enter the mission area, already exhaustee, exhausted through the workload, thunking... am I in the right place?... All this even before you remove the safety weapon switch.

By the way

Very good module, i purchased it from day 0.

Yes it seems to be a great plane and I understand what you mean by immersion. I have the visual immersion with Oculus now I have the plane. I just have to do lots of reading and practicing which is why I got it. You see I've been flying only FC3 aircraft and I got a bit bored and needed a greater challenge...and boy do I have ithelpsmilie.gif

I am thinking in hetting the OR... Already bougth a 1080!!

I too waited only because I was going to be getting a new computer and I wanted to know it could run the OR properly. So many claimed they were disappointed because of poor performance. Once you have both computer and OR it will be difficult to go back to screens...and I had 3.

I have an I5 2500k OC to 4,3, 24 RAM and a 1080. I think I could get decent rates, but... I dont know if i want to do the investment yet. People (some) complains about visibility....

Visibility is degraded, but the feeling of immersion is completely unbeatable. I am rediscovering DCS since I got mine OR. I absolutely recommend it!

There are tweak tools that can help with the clarity, but only a bit. A good computer is key because good frame rates is what's going to make the VR experience great or not so great. We are presently faced with immersion vs. picture quality until hopefully the next generation of OC or Vive. As has been mentioned here and elsewhere, the overwhelming majority once they've experienced OR will not be able to go back to a screen even with the beautiful high resolution you get from the screen. It's the difference between sitting and watching a movie on your screen and actually experiencing what you see in that movie. When the plane lands and taxies to the apron and you then brake to a gentle stop you can sometimes feel your body move forward from the perceived momentum. Some say when the canopy opens after a mission you can almost feel the wind.

But as I've mentioned before, you need the right system before buying OR or else buyer beware.

Thank you very much Razbam for this beautiful plane! I didn't fly much the past 6 months but could do some flights the last weeks and hopefully more to come. I am relearning the M2k again, much has changed and i love it. I just discovered for example that the autopilot approach mode works just fine for automatic landing, lol! :smartass: Now just some time to learn the INS besides the alignment and i think i'm good to go again with this beauty. :joystick:

Thanks again for all your work you invested for our joy!

Beautifully said. I agree with your post, with the caveat that even with a top of the line computer, performance in DCS will unfortunately be marginal at times (often 45 fps instead of 90, and sometimes less than 45 fps). I'm really hoping ED can optimize the engine further, because for me, it's VR or nothing now.

But back to the Mirage 2000: I just bought it a few days ago and indeed, this is a fine module. Keep up the good work, Razbam! There are still bugs and unfinished systems, but you guys are almost there. Looking forward to a finished module in the next few months, hopefully. :D

I've been studying the NAV system [DCS training flights, Chuck's guide] but still having difficulty with it. For example, when I want to fly to Sochi, there's no VOR beacon, the ILS is for landing. It has a tacan but the needle does not point to it. I can get the needle pointing to all the waypoints.

So what am I doing wrong?

Also when I get the above figured out what is the procedure for guiding the plane to final approach so I can use the synthetic runway image. I did all this easily with the US/RUS HSI but was told this cannot be implimented in the M-2000C. The Heading Error on the HUD is what I was told to work with.
