Hi all,

I bought a Oculus Rift CV1 but I am not able to run any flightsimulator with it.

I run via steam the Apollo 11 software and a Fly the Mercury demo, but I want to fly with DCS World, IL2 Sturmovik and X-Plane 11. :joystick:

Till now three days are past and even the Oculus support cant help me. :helpsmilie:

Can someone give me a step by step tutorial or a plan how to proceed? :smartass:

In DCS it's simple. Start the game, go to Settings. Hit the VR Tab and save. Restart the game using NOT steam.

My favorite way of dooing it:

Create a fresh shortcut to DCS Exe (doesnt matter if its 1.5 or 2.0) and put this start parameter

dcs.exe --force_enable_VR

Create a second shortcut with the parameter dcs.exe --force_disable_VR for setting up keybindings and stuff.

Works great and saves you the hussle to start the game, disable VR, restart the game all the time.

But again. I would recommend not starting DCS via Steam. DCS doesnt need SteamVR. And running the game via SteamVR will create problems.

Hi SwissMAG thanks, for your advise I will try it.

Are there also graphic settings I have to adjust (Lower) like screenresolution / details ect?

You don't need to change resolution.

You have a VR preset, try it first then change some options if you can keep 45 fps

People fly planes, pilots fly helicopters

Can you copy your shortcut as an example because I cant create one. I get a message file not found.

"H:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR

"H:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe --force_enable_VR"

How to add the parameter?

I also see this message in the Oculus Rift:

Sorry, DCS.exe is taking a while to load. If this issue persist, Please take off your headset and check this app on your computer.

I see DCS starting on my monitor as a half (50%) left side of the screen.

UPDATE:

This looks like it is working for ON:

"H:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR

and for OFF:

"H:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR

But still I get this mesage in my VR set:

Sorry, DCS.exe is taking a while to load. If this issue persist, Please take off your headset and check this app on your computer.

Does loading take so much longer then normal, because of VR settings?

PS: I hope I can fly this weekend in VR, because I saw the T-Rex already to much in the dreamdeck.

Make sure SteamVR is disabled

Start Oculus

Start DCS with your VR enabled shortcut

Put on the headset. You should get the Oculus notice for health and safety. Then you should see the DCS Loading Screen and then you should be next to a jet in a hangar.

When you get that far, make sure your game window is active and hit ALT+Enter to have a (stretched) fullscreen on your 2d montior. This will remove any issues with clicking on buttons in the UI.

DONE BUT I DONT SEE the DCS Loading Screen nor the Oculus notice for health and safety, I only see the grey room in the OC headset with this message:

Sorry, DCS.exe is taking a while to load. If this issue persist, Please take off your headset and check this app on your computer.

NO HANGAR

On my second monitor not connected to my GTX 1080 I see 50% left half DCS Screen.

And I hear the DCS music, Thats all. :-(

Note I have 2 graphics cards.

Normal I use two monitors:

Screen 1 connected to GTX 1080 (To run a flightsimulator)

Monitor 2 connected to intel chip on the motherboard. (For running moving map software like G-PLan or X-Plane 11 map or Tack View)

Situation with OC rift is:

Monitor 2 becomes monitor one but is still on the intel chip on the motherboard.

and the OC Rift is on the GTX 1080 HDMI port and monitor 1 is disconnected.

You need to not run anything from your onboard GPU. Use only your graphics card for both monitor and rift

Yeah. The 1080 has more then enough slots. If you are missing one HDMI Slot since the RIFT occupies it... Get a HDMI to Displayport adapter. You will probably need one in the future anyway, cause the HDMI Ports will probably fail to deliver the Overclocked signal because of the RIFT.

Hi all,

Thanks for solving the problem.

I noticed that I had no NVDIA GTX 1080 monitor connected and also the Oculus Rift was not visable.

So I connected a display adapter on one of the other GTX 1080 ports and then it worked.

I was also able to run IL2 Sturmovik in VR mode.

For X-Plane 11, I need extra 3rd party software (FLYINSIDE) I think.

I must say it is realy awesome and I hope that the next generation VR sets have twice this resolution so the instruments are better readable, but you can be verry quick airsick.

I have almost a stable 45 Fps with DCS World. But some planes have fewer Fps like the F-15 (23-45 Fps.)

PS: If you remove all other monitors, would that give better Fps and what are the best menu settings for VR for sharpness & Fps?
