I just found that in the mission editor (under "costumize"), but don't know what to do with it. :D

Does anybody know, what the local control panel does or for an effect has?

Thanks in advance.

It is for localization. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but someone who does translations would probably be more helpful. My best guess is it is used to create a localization folder with the .miz. Basically all text like mission briefings, triggers, unitnames, etc are saved as "dictionary keys" with the mission file and the values for each key are stored on another file that is relative to a given language. So say I made a mission and then created a "DE" localization file. I could then modify the dictionary file for DE so everything important is in German. When a player using German localization plays my mission, they will get everything in German. Basically it is so DCS doesn't have to manage a different copy of the mission for each localization. Instead you can just have one mission and put all the localization in there. The only downside being it makes the missions a tad bit larger if you include audio for multiple languages.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

Right page dialogue creates a new locale. E.g. DE for german, CN for chinese, RU for russian.

DEFAULT is the language used if no specific locale is present.

After you created a new locale you can switch between the languages using the left-hand dialogue.

There is an indicator in the lower left to show which locale is currently selected.

Now after "creating" a DE locale it will "copy" all triggers, message, unit, waypoint text, names, and audio links etc. from default into a separate localisation folder.

Every editing or translation you do when the DE locale is selected now, will store into the German locale and used when the DCS install's language is set to german (DE).

That is, how you can create multilanguage miz-structures that automatically show the correct translated versions.

If you need more details, let me know. ;)

To test, you still need the install in the language you want to test. It only affects the mission editor... That one should go on the Wish list! A switch to select language settings in game with no need to restart!
