exil Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Hey, I just bought a Rift and must say the immersion is wonderful! Right now i'm tweaking my settings and some strange things happend. I changed the PD from 1.0 to 1.7 ingame but i can't notice any difference. Then another thing: I tried to put ASW off in various ways (OTT tool, the debug tool, and CTRL + NUM1,2,3,4) but FPS is constantly locked to 45. I tried all settings to low and a PD of 1.0 but still FPS are locked to 45. My specs are: Ryzen 5 1600 @ Stock GTX 1080 @ Stock 16GB Ram @ 2666 DCS on SSD I don't know whats wrong here...Maybe i should completely deinstall the rift and install it again? I would be thankful for any advice! dburne Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Regarding PD - not sure why you are not noticing, setting it in game certainly does work. Sometimes the differences between some settings may be a little difficult to perceive. I use the Oculus Tray Tool to set ASW off, works no problem for me. I do however set a profile for DCS rather than set it globally in the main window. I just set the profile for DCS.exe and have ASW set to off. Works fine for me, as I can see the gun-sight in the Spit no longer has squiggly lines and my framerates fluctuate. You can also confirm your settings in the OTT are being applied by clicking the little green button in the lower middle, will show you the text log of what is being applied. I have mine set to turn ASW off and use the audio switcher so I don't have to remember to change to Oculus Headphone in my speaker settings. If your Rift is tracking fine and appears normal, don't think you need to uninstall and reinstall. And welcome to the wonderful world of VR! toutenglisse Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Hi exil, if your fps is constantly locked to 45 with Rift it's probably because, in DCS menu settings, you have "Vsync" that is checked. Just uncheck it while using VR and it should be OK (I wrote a thread about that : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=189185 )
exil Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Thanks guys! I really appreciate your help! I fixed both Problems. Had vsync on all the time. Turning it off did it for me. Still have to tweak settings but its way better than before. Btw, is anyone using deferred shading on vr? Boy, its hungry for Hardware, but looks just awesome. FragBum Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 No MSAA No AF No Deferred shading (besides it looks odd) PD == 1 clutter 150 trees viability 4700 preload 1500 Most everything else high. Seems to work well for me in Normandy flying Gazelle or Huey in VR I still get the odd bit of stuttering and occasional frame rate drop. :( but overall it's pretty good. PC specs.
