Hello friends!

Some kind of family of mine went to miami this week and i bought an

"Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD" for me so it will be delivered to the hotel in no time.

I will get it by the end of this month here in argentina.

Theres something that im concerning right now,

Cant remember where but i read somewhere that DCS "track recorder" or whatever is the thing that record your flights, continuisly writes on your SSD to do this, so heres my questions.

1. Should i care of it?

2. Should i care at all of writting on my ssd with fear of wasting its life??

If someone can enlighten me would be really appreciated.

ty!

On the first few generations of SSD disks, many years ago, there was a concern about their writing endurance ... but all current SSD's have completely solved this limitation, making SSD's as reliable as conventional hard disks ... so, no need to worry and you can use your new disk in the exact same way as your old drive.

Hi mate.

I've just bought Samsung 850 EVO 256GB SSD. I've installed everything and am playing happily.

This is my third SSD with DCS. Haha; No, DCS doesn't break SSDs. I moved older SSDs to other systems etc. I mean that after Windows' file read/write issues and DCS's tracker, all SSDs still works perfectly.

Don't worry.

No worries,

I have been running DCS on the same SSD since Dec of 2013 and has been rock solid all along for me.

Install it and enjoy!

SSD's these days have a life expectancy of between around 180TB and 9PB worth of writing action, although the guaranteed cycles are usually much lower. Samsung SSD's are usually in the upper segments of these numbers. Tracks are usually very small, about 15kB or so. That means you can do about in between 10^10 (ten billion) and 6×10^11 (six hundred billion) flights before wearing out your SSD with generated tracks. You're going to have to reinstall DCS every day to have a life expectancy measured in years.

I think that tracks are stored in RAM unless you decide to save them through the user interface, so they won't wear down your SSD at all if you don't do so.

Cant be happier right now haha! i bought it in a flash and never tought about it so then i was concerned,

i have to say too, that i think amazon dilvered 2 ssd instead of 1. Wont be able to check till End of the month.

I cancelled the first order of the 250gb ssd and they send me a confirmation email for the refund to my credit card, then i bought the 2nd one of 500gb.

Now the 500gb is on his way and the 250gb says it has arrived and it was handed to someone on the reception of the hotel... lmao?

If that is the case, I can almost guarantee that if you don't return it, they will just charge your credit card again.

We are going to have a serious problem then.

"Family" going to the hotel wont be returning anything. Have to thanks them that they accepted me to buy an ssd so they can take it to argentina.

I dont know why but i took screenshots of the chat with the amazon support when i clearly asked them to NOT DEVLIER it and they confirmed me it wont. (if this worth anything.)

btw, the 250gb are 200 dollars here in argentina. can sell it too. i win money haha
