Magic Zach Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 I seem to be doing a lot of bug reports recently. Not really important ones, but still. Anyways, when the P-51 is in a flat spin and you're shooting, shouldn't the empty casing not leave the shoots correctly and thus, jamming the guns? Also, the empty shells are ghosting through the wing. LURKINGBADGER Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Good point. The casing's did not just drop from the gun. The M2 Browning's used in the p51/47 etc. wher not the same ones that where installed on tanks and such. The extractor mechanism was different and was designed just for that. (your mentioned reason) How ever... that does not mean there was never jamming because of zero g. But if there was a misalignment in the beltfeed or the another malfunction in the feedsystem it would likely jamm. That does not mean these M2's never jammed, they did. But casings flying trough wings is not correct haha. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
David OC Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 These virtual rounds are very well mathematically made, you could code in a jam, imagine the complaints of guy's loosing a gun or two mid battle. Guess there saving some cpu power not having a mass attached to the shell casings. I.E. How many planes firing in mission or MP, with how many guns per aircraft and how many rounds per minute. Got to save anywhere you can, I guess. The bilistics and damage model is the most important here. . i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. Okay, so gun failure IS possible, but can the guns jam with a cause? My entire left wing doesn't just vanish because it's a "system failure". My wing vanishes because I hit something. It's good to know that it's a failure, but still, it'll be a cool and realistic addition to the Mustang (and maybe other aircraft) if guns can jam while pulling some weird maneuvers. I'm being quite serious. This could improve realism in this simulator if guns could jam realistic, according to the data stuff that ED does, and pilot recounts. I'd really enjoy the cannon on a 109 jam up just when he gets a solution on me! ;) Hardware: T-50 Mongoose, VKB STECS, Saitek 3 Throttle Quadrant, Homemade 32-function Leo Bodnar Button Box, MFG Crosswind Pedals Oculus Rift S System Specs: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, RTX 4090, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5-3600, Samsung 990 PRO Modules: AH-64D, Ka-50, Mi-8MTV2, F-16C, F-15E, F/A-18C, F-14B, F-5E, P-51D, Spitfire Mk LF Mk. ED Team NineLine Posted July 21, 2017 ED Team Posted July 21, 2017 Well the damage models are being redone, so its possible when that is done, but I dont think right now the gun will jam on its own. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
ED Team NineLine Posted July 23, 2017 ED Team Posted July 23, 2017 Also I believe back in the early days of ED, most failures were set up like this as many people would prefer not to fly a long mission only to have a mechanical failure ruin their day, maybe it needs to be revisited, maybe on by default and able to disable in ME. Something to think about maybe... Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Buzzles Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Well the damage models are being redone, so its possible when that is done, but I dont think right now the gun will jam on its own. You can jam them with overheating and I think also with icing. Think that's it though. As far as I know, only the Mig21 has g-related jamming modelled for its guns. Fancy trying Star Citizen? If they dont already, maybe ED should consider it too. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Magic Zach Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 It's good to know that it's at least possible for the guns to jam. I didn't know, and I've never had it happen to me, so that was why I asked. Thanks, guys.
