Hi ED,

The questions that keeps me buzzy is , is it planned to add rain effects too the canopy glass?

Would be cool to see the rain splashing on and floating down or sideways off the glass and depending on the speed the faster or slower it floats off again.

Another question is will there wet strips on airfields and splashing rainwater when the weels rotate trough the waterpools?

It would give alot reality too the whole landing and departing experience.

Last question is when airfields be bombed and the strips or other ground area,s in a map will be hit by a bomb explosion

Will there be a crater left . Would be cool too take out airfield preventing planes to go airbourne and hunt you.

This would give alot of tactical demension to fly a mission and take out the ennemies capacity to answer the attack.

Just curious.

Ty for you time.

We all would love some of these effects in DCS at some point when we have 10 Ghz CPU's.:)

I think you will see better rain effects on canopy glass at some stage of development, I don't think you will see splashing rainwater or craters anytime soon.

DCS is a very technical program and is very punishing on a PC now, with the PC tech available today, which can limit ED's market place as it is today, it will get better as more optimizing is done. Still, to really get the most from DCS you do need a good decent PC, otherwise play on very low settings which can make the experience not that great.

There is always a balance and priorities here with this type of cutting edge tech, think about everything that's going on in DCS, Flight model (FM), Weapon modeling and Damage modeling and all the different AI programing, these things can always be that little bit better moving forward.

Just realize the things you ask for would bring DCS to it's knees in performance today with everything else that's going on in a mission, these things could be done perhaps in about 10 years time? (Icing on the cake)

For me, I would like the focus to stay on just bring "all the elements" that are in the sim up to the aircraft "module platinum level" and that is what ED is doing now. I also see keeping up with the latest VR tech a big priority moving forward.

If I was to wish for something, it would be better dynamic weather and more realistic turbulence in the sim, which would also be very staining on our PC's just adding that "one element". Like I said it's all about getting and keeping the balance and priorities right as technology moves forward in a cutting edge sim like DCS.

+1 for better cockpit glass rain effects

It could just be a graphic option (low, med, high), so less capable machines could disable it

so no need for a 10Ghz CPU , maybe just more cores ?

True Weltensegler it does not ask for alot of power, take the F1 racing game as example.

Rain effects and splashing rainwater from under the spinning weels.

These game effects in F1 run on a lot less powerfull pc then DCS is asking for.

Just saying.

I asked a similar question about rain effects on the canopy, and apparently it's a WIP effect that will come alongside other effects (clouds, explosions, apparently there will be one massive update just for visual effects).

I have a similar (and likely not so computer-resource-sucking) request, or multiple.

•Anyone who has done some skinning for DCS know what SPEC "files" are, as well as DIFF and NM. For those who don't know, SPEC files give the skin of an aircraft it's reflectivity. I suggest to Eagle Dynamics that for each aircraft, a SECOND SPEC file be made for each skin, and it will be EXTRA reflective.

Now, when it rains, DCS will take away the default SPEC file and use the "rain" SPEC. The aircraft will appear extra reflective, giving the plane a wet appearance!

•When it rains, road surfaces, runways, ramps, buildings, etc will get their own SPEC file, and when it rains, buildings and hard surfaces become more reflective as well. It'll give runways a wet and glassy appearance that may deter some pilots from landing or taking off

•Building, road surfaces, runways, ramps, and ALSO the landscape (ground, grass, trees) will become darker when it rains. Unlike above, instead of a whole new texture (because for a map, that's ridiculous to duplicate all the textures of an entire map) for it all, simply the brightness of the textures will be decreased.

Basically, almost everything becomes more dark and reflective, while planes simply become more reflective. Would likely decrease FPS, but hey...this is a wishlist, and I'm just passing ideas around...
