First of all I just bought this plane and I totally fall in love with it, but, does anyone else have problems with 3 fuel tanks? If I take off and put autobalance the 3 tanks emptied immediately and if I take off and without putting autobalance and I give it to consume the pylons tanks goes well but when they run out and I give it to start using the central tank (CL) Tell me it is empty, I do not know what's going on, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I really do not think so, I hope I explained well and I'm waiting for your answers.

regards:)

Did you damage the fuel tanks?

Well, in the end I repaired the f-5e's installation and the fuel tanks work well, I really do not know what happened but I can still enjoy this wonderful airplane :)

Well, the problem has returned, is not in all flights, but if it is back, when I put 3 ponds of 150 gallons the central appears immediately empty, and when I put 3 ponds of 275 gallons sometimes when consuming the pylons when activating the Central is empty, check that it was full before take off, I do not know if it is a bug or something I am doing wrong, but I think something is wrong because I made two identical flights in one worked everything well and in the other when activating the central It was empty, please someone help me to try.

If, fully verified that the internal fuel and the external tanks are full.

It seems to me very strange that nobody claims for this being something as important in a plane with little autonomy as the F-5 and that nobody else comments if they happen to them the same or everything is normal.

I`ve reported a bug about too fast fuel flow from external tanks, by now it should be fixed. Actually I didn`t check if this is corrected for all 3 tanks.

When using 1 tank I have not had problems, only when using 3 the central tank is emptied without having activated it and the fuel is not going anywhere.

Thank you for your answer azm :)

I've had no issues with external tanks, but I've only ever had to use one tank.

I can try to fly with 3 tanks later when I can a chance and see if something goes wrong. By chance, does the manual say anything special about 3 tank usage? I don't have access to it right now, so I can't check.

Hi,

Use wing tanks first then the central tank...

Take care,

Thanks Exorcet, the manual only says that when using 3 tanks should first use the pylons then the central and finally the internal fuel, the problem is that when the fuel is exhausted from the pylons and activate the central most of the times it is empty without Explanation.

I made some quick tests with both fuel tank sizes and found no issues, other than the empty tank light staying on if I forgot to turn of the pylon switch after switching to the central tank (as pointed out in the manual).

I verified tank flow by watching the fuel gauge, which stopped decreasing when I switched to the central tank even if the pylon switch had been left on.

Are you checking the center tank state by the warning panel, or by fuel gauge?

I think you need to power ON the pylons where the fuel tanks are, in ADDITION TO switching their fuel feed on.

So that means you must turn on switches on both the left and right side of the cockpit. The switches on the left power on the pylons, the ones on the right feed the fuel.

I've never powered the F-5 fuel tank pylons to transfer fuel. That function is only for arming AIM-9's or selective jettison I believe. The manual doesn't mention the pylon power switches at all for fuel management.

The same thing happens, my procedures are starting with the airplane ready to take off with 3 tanks, I start the takeoff race with the CL switches and pylons OFF, I take off and I enter the landing gear, immediately after activating the switch pylons, leaving OFF the CL switch, I fly for a while and when the alarm goes off that the tank is empty under the Pylon, switch to OFF and raise the CL switch to ON, I immediately jump the alarm that it is also empty, check the fuel gauge and keep going down without showing signs that he was receiving fuel from the CL tank, it would just happen to me ?? I do exactly as the manual says :(

It sounds like you're doing nearly the same thing that I am doing.

Where is DCS installed on your computer? I had an issue where the flight model was not correct because DCS was installed under Program Files, which caused permission issues. I had to move my install to Documents. This fixed it.

Yes, I have it in program files, I have to uninstall everything and reinstall?

You can test with a second install. Make an install in Documents with only the F-5 and see if it works. If it does then you can uninstall from the old location.

What version of the game are we talking about? There used to be a fuel bug when the F-5 was initialy released that transferred all fuel from all tanks with only pylon tankswitch on, but that have been fixed in beta and alpha long ago.

If you are in the release version it might still be there.

Which would be latest release, right?

Anyway, the fuel bug was from F-5 release.

A track of the issue would be much appreciated.

The version that gives me the problem is the release 1.5.7 Must be version problem

In case you do not know, DCS can be downgraded to older versions. You could try changing your version to 1.5.6 and test again, or make a second install and then downgrade to 1.5.6. That would let you rule out the version as the problem.

I have seen this happen too... I normally don't fly with 3 tanks because that's a lot of flight time.

What I did was I turned on the Pylon tanks just after take off and left the Centerline off. I confirmed that the fuel was flowing from the pylon tanks because it replenished my internal fuel... then as my pylon tanks went empty my Caution light came on which I reset and turned off the Pylon tanks... Then I saw my fuel gage start to move indicating internal fuel was being used so I then turned on the Centerline... The fuel gage continued to move as if the Centerline tanks were empty... Its been some time ago but I will test this tonight.
