Zarma Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 (edited) Just reading "Joint Force Harrier" about British Harriers in Afganisthan. Really nice book. The author is using a bomb called the "five forty". It's a dumb bomb with cluster possibilities. Who knows it ? Zarma Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Found on wiki : Modern British GP bombs[edit] The principal modern British bombs are 540 lb (245 kg) and 1,000 lb (454 kg), with a wide variety of fin, fuze, and retarder options. Usage is increasingly dominated by guided versions. Must be one of those. i9 9900k, 64 Go RAM, RTX 4090, Warthog HOTAS Throttle & Stick, Virpil AH64 collective, TPR rudder, MFD Cougar, Trackir 5 Pro, Multipurpose UFC, Alain Dufour's TEDAC and Oculus Rift S (when I want some VR), http://www.twitch.tv/zarma4074 / https://www.youtube.com/user/Zarma4074
frixon28 Posted October 28, 2017 Posted October 28, 2017 Here's a couple of books about the Harrier of all variants, with some pictures attached. If you got time to read should help you with the tactics of employing the Harrier in DCS Joint Force Harrier A Nightmare's Prayer AV-8B Harrier II Units of Operation Iraqi Freedom I-VI
ESAc_matador Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I read 3 out of the 4 recomendations. Joint Force harrier is "our " harrier, and very good for thinking how to use it in DCS. Its a pitty we dont have an A-A radar for AA CAPs, however... the type of Radar used in falknads, was not very good, so... with proper GCI from the ships, we could consider a "falklands" type of campagin. I ll do!!! haha. To me the very best is the sea harriers over falklands. MUST READ. No question about that. I also recommend https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51l12pTRHSL._SX324_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg (similar to the Sharkey's book, but another point of view)

They fly the Gr.7 in that book. However that is not the Harrier we are getting in DCS. We are getting an American Harrier (AV-B NA) which has different systems and different weapons capabilities.

Well, I ment, its kind of B modrl without radar, or she has??? at least, through the book, the missions they do, we can do them here to. That is what I meant, but i am probabky wrong saying "our"
