check ground and VAD charts. I think by virtual Jabog or Lino Germany. Also, if you open mission planner, before hitting Fly, you can find your exact location on a ramp start. From this you can see which taxiways to take and even draw a rough paper memo to make the correct to the threshold.

Beware though that AI will takeoff in the ATC direction but land from the opposite direction.

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Hi. So I am playing the 3rd mission. I don't know how to reach the runway correctly from my starting position???

Is there a way to know?

Thanks.

Not familiar with the mission but, absent a chart, ask for permission to taxi. You'll be told, as part of the response, which runway to use. Look at the HSI and find that heading (runway number) in relationship to where your nose is pointing and head in the opposite direction to reach the runway. If it's to the left, taxi to the right. If to the right, head left.

Runway numbers: Add a "0" to the end. Runway 08 has a heading of 080 or 80° (the direction your nose will be pointing when you're on the runway and taking off). Runway 27 would have a heading of 270°, etc. So, as an example, if you're sitting on the ramp at Kutaisi and your nose is pointing toward 150°, ask for permission to taxi. You'll most likely be told to use Runway 08. Glancing down at the HSI, you'll see that 80° is to your left which means that the start of the runway you want is to your right.

Of course, if you're at a base with a convoluted set of taxiways, this will only give you a general direction. For the rest, you'll need a chart.

In the good old days, sans external views on MP servers, this was a rite of passage for a newbie.............getting absolutely horribly lost trying to find the runway while your buddies are getting pounded, hearing their screams over comms whilst you amble along aimlessly......

Man, I got properly lost a good few times on some of those airbases :megalol:

Or, for the less patient among us, the taxiway became a temporary runway... Something that's frowned upon with good reason. I've been run over more than once.

I laughed so hard when I read the rules of an online server :

- No takeoff from the taxiway

- No refueling / reloading on the runway

Reminds me of "do not swallow" caution signs found on some toys etc. :D

A luxury never afforded to me being almost exclusively a T-Toad pilot. Tried once though.....ended up shovelling truffles.....

But yes, those fast-jets were a proper nuisance doing that.

- Use the left side of the runway for takeoff (and then they dont specify which runway in the first place. So if youre taking off 09 left side a guy is landing 27 L too... kisser)

If you are both using the left side there is no collision. Same reason why you drive on the right (or left) side of the road.
