so yesterday i started to run my simpit setup to get back into flying.

just wondering how you guys deal with mirroring to send audio to both the rift and transducers.

i was disappointed to find out that oculus audio mirroring doesnt work for DCS. so i would have to utilize steamVR audio mirroring.

i tried to only use the oculus service/runtime to play dcs, and keep steamVR off, because its silly to have 2 VR client renderers running.

but because i need steamVR's audio mirroring to drive my transducers, i now have to use it, and had to set the oculus.exe with administrator rights so that it doesnt start automatically when the oculus rift is in use..

is there a better configuration that this?

much appreciated

as for voice meeter, NO thanks...

**update**

i am getting many replies telling me to use simshaker.

you guys that are using simshaker and the rift + transducers, i like to ask, if you guys have oculus software running in the back ground or steam VR or both?

after writing this, it hit me that there is no Asyncronus space warp on SteamVR runtime..

which means i have to have oculus runtime running, rift audio settings to default..

steamVR to mirror the audio but turn off and also turn off all the asyncrons reprojection stuff on steamVR..

have to test when i get back home..

My buttkicker is really awesome - I use VB audios voice meter to mirror the audio to multiple external sources - https://www.vb-audio.com/Voicemeeter/index.htm

I for some reason doubt the simshaker is as powerful as the buttkicker, it comes with a large amp, and the transducer is large. I know you can get both to work at the same time.

SimShaker is a software which generates effects/bass sound according to your sim... See my signature for more information!

Just stating most likely the only difference, Everyone I know that uses a sim shaker raves about it!, I know some people that use both, a transducer adds ALOT to the experience of VR, its worth it!

(yes I can feel the runway, feel the airbrakes, rumble of the engine)

ok, you guys that are talking about simshaker..

what headset are you guys using, and which VR runtimes are you using along with your simshaker?

Hannibal, You can use rift audio and simshaker at the same time. Keep your default audio to the rift but plug the amp to the transducer in to the center/subwoofer port of another sound device. Like extra sound card or on board sound. Then point simshaker to the sound device you have the amp and transducer plugged in too. Simshaker is designed to see all sounds devices.

Simshaker isnt a Hardware, thats the jetseat

Simshaker is „just“ the Software that generates Sounds for your transducers/buttkicker apart from the ingame sound , so you feel Runway bumps , Stalls, Flap movement or the afterburner much clearer

I’ve got a Buttkicker which I use for DCS World. Would it be possible, using Simshaker, to have my buttkicker respond only to the thump of the Huey rotor blades? If so that would be amazing as at present I get lots of bass interference and spoils the potential of the kicker somewhat.

For the UH1 Simshaker does have 2 settings for "Main Rotor Whirl High" and "Main Rotor whirl low" and it can be turned up. Maybe this is the beat of the rotors. Might want to ask over in the simshaker for avaitors post in the input output section.

Using Oculus Rift, ButtKicker Gamer and SimShaker for Aviators software here. As mentioned earlier, simply set SimShaker to user the sound card that the the ButtKicker is plugged into.

This works extremely well for the Huey, especially during start-up :)

I just can't use Oculus Rift without the ButtKicker anymore!

There's nothing wrong with that, it allows you to plug headphones in the other end of the Y for other purposes, but it's not necessary for the purpose of playing DCS with the Rift.

If the splitter is not necessary, just plug the ButtKicker directly into your headphone jack.

basically you are saying you run oculus only, and leave steamVR off?

I currently don't use steamVR nor do I run Oculus Home when I fly. When i start DCS its starts the Rift it takes about 30 to 45 sec.
