rattler Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Would like to know when the release if planned for and any other info ref. how to purchase, security provider etc. There has been little news on BS of late and was just wondering where it stands as of Jan.2007. Thanks for any info. Cheers.
GGTharos Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 There's no information on the release, unfortunately, and security provider may or may not be star force. There has been plenty of news, I think, just not those you're asking for. :) Mind you, this isn't vaporware, I'm testing the heli often enough. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
EvilBivol-1 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Just to add to the above, the closest to a release date at this point is "2007". As of now, starforce is still slated for use, but there was a quasi-official poll conducted recently on the impact starforce inclusion would have on the user's purchasing decision. No official announcements of a change though. Pilotasso Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Just to add to the above, the closest to a release date at this point is "2007". And as ED often states: Subject to change. Since time cant go backwards to "2006", it means the release date could only go forward! :D 1 .
rattler Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 LockonBs There's no information on the release, unfortunately, and security provider may or may not be star force. I don't think it is vaporware, just trying to be patient but it is hard not to jump in and ask a question or two once in a while. I know the work is difficult and I know you want it to be a stable and appealing release and rushing does nothing for that. Hope 2007 ends our anticipation. Cheers and thanks.
GGTharos Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Don't worry, questions are good :D There is more than just Black Shark going on, this is why the delay. For example, ED has a contract with the Air National Guard to do their A-10 trainer which is taking up part of their time I believe (I am not involved in that so all I can tell you is that it is happening, but nothing else) And yeah, we'll do what we can to get it right. Believe you me, look at this thing: http://avia.transas.com/eng/abris.htm I believe close to all of the functions of the real deal are simulated in BS. It is a /nightmare/ to test just because of the sheer amount of work that this thing can do! :) And that is just -one- instrument of -one- system of -one- of the new things going into Black Shark :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
rattler Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 lockon BS And as ED often states: Subject to change. Since time cant go backwards it only means the release date could go forward! :D Hi there Pilotasso, long time no talk. Ya I hear you, hard waiting for something you know is getting close but I do understand where they are coming from. They want a good release and that unfortunately for us takes time. I know it will come. Glad you jumped in.
EvilBivol-1 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I'll paraphrase Dmut's reply to a recent question about a more definite release date: In the software entertainment industry, there are only two "estimated" release dates: "soon" and "in two weeks". Our "2007" is quite definite. ;) - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
chrno120 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Speaking of release.. Will ED look for an international Publisher, like the Flamming Cliffs release? I initially thought, it is was very expensive to order the FC addon from the internet but through the publisher, I found it in the local stores Makes it more accessible in the far places like the Philippines. I think I will get new reading glasses. Thanks for info. Outstanding work.
GGTharos Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 No problem. As for the learning curve - once you practice the procedures a couple times you will have most of the stuff down pat with only a little effort ... now that's for your good old simple start up, fly around and shoot some stuff ... It'll be steeper when it comes to doing detail work though. it all depends on how you wish to fly :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
GGTharos Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 ... Damn :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

It'll be steeper when it comes to doing detail work though. it all depends on how you wish to fly :) Yup :) Although it may look daunting, once you're airborne I reckon it's actually easier to engage targets in the Ka50 than the Su25T. Programmable flare dispensers make attack runs in threat-rich environments simpler, the true moving-map mode gives you a better idea of where you are, and hovering outside MANPADS/AAA range actually gives you better survivability than the fixed-wing method which necessitates overflying the target. Cold starts are a challenge to begin with, but now I've got used to them I'm cracking them out in short order. There's only so many things an engine needs, and the switches are always in the same place. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
rattler Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 LockonBs Thanks guy's for all the info. Awesome piece of work. Well worth waiting for. good luck on your progress, hope no major glitches pop up.Keep up the outstanding work, we are all waiting for final release with great anticipation of a well oiled addon. Take your time, make it worth the wait. I said we as I am sure there are lots more than me waiting to see BS come out. cheers
Meyvn Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Only wish ED could do a fixed wing jet to such detailed too someday.
GGTharos Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 You don't need to wish, they will :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Pilotasso Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Incorrect info about the AFM for weapons on that site, only Skhyval will have. Somebody should tell them, because its small innacuracy that would have tremendous game implications. .

Availability 15-May-2007 SimWare Price : To be announced http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=1526  Why would you think that release date is correct? If it doesnt come from ED, I wouldnt believe it. Those software site are always wrong. Incorrect info about the AFM for weapons on that site, only Skhyval will have. Somebody should tell them, because its small innacuracy that would have tremendous game implications. I wouldnt bet on that, you never know what ED might do.
Pilotasso Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 man...I wish, perhaps the single most important feature in BS for me. .
GGTharos Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 WAFM alone won't solve everything. Even with WAFM we will still have issues with sensors and guidance, as those are slated to be corrected later. Pilotasso Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 rgr that GG I had that in mind too, but I was thinking about kinetic effects and their impact on tactics. :) .
Prophet Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I would rather see better AI. To me most the weapons and such are modelled well enough.
