DerekSpeare Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 Greetings! I've been away from DCS for a bit and was wondering if the pilot's body is enabled yet. While I have mixed feelings about it - certain parts of him or her could get in the way of seeing things on the panels - but it might be an immersion boost to be able to turn on or off the pilot's body. I've found that having a virtual body in games like iRacing and Elite Dangerous make it a much better gaming experience. I personally don't like not having on in VR...or RR (Real Rality)! Anyone know the status? d :pilotfly: 1 Derek "BoxxMann" Speare derekspearedesigns.com 25,000+ Gaming Enthusiasts Trust DSD Components to Perform! i7-11700k 4.9g | RTX3080ti (finally!)| 64gb Ram | 2TB NVME PCIE4| Reverb G1 | CH Pro Throt/Fighterstick Pro | 4 DSD Boxes Falcon XT/AT/3.0/4.0 | LB2 | DCS | LOMAC Been Flight Simming Since 1988! dburne Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 I think some modules have, some don't. I know the KA-50 does. For those that do it can be set on or off. johnco61 Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 There's a pilot body in some of the aircraft as with non-vr but none have been added recently if that's what you mean.
hansangb Posted November 21, 2017 Posted November 21, 2017 LOL. I had this problem in Huey yesterday. I was trying to open the door so I could look out and below. And the VR pilot's shoulder got in the way a bit. :) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Knock-Knock Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 (edited) All heli's have pilot bodies. As for the planes, its just top of my head, so someone please confirm. - WWII all but the Spitfire Jets, those that dont: F-15, Viggen, Mig29 (after the updated model I guess), Mig 21. Edit: Should note that F-86 and F-5E bodies block the Snapview in height. If you have moved your view up/down and enable the body, it snaps back to planes default. I dont own the Hawk and the C-101, so couldnt tell. Edit: And yes, the body gets in the way at times, but just do a RShift+P. DerekSpeare Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 I never really was really gone :) So I hopped into the F5 and thanks to Knock-Knock's comment, I was able to enable the pilot's body. Unfortunately, the poor bastard's head is halfway down his torso. I have my default eyepoint set so I can see the gunsight, but when activating the pilot, the head is too low. Moving the head to where it should be results in being way too high up. :/ Derek "BoxxMann" Speare derekspearedesigns.com 25,000+ Gaming Enthusiasts Trust DSD Components to Perform! i7-11700k 4.9g | RTX3080ti (finally!)| 64gb Ram | 2TB NVME PCIE4| Reverb G1 | CH Pro Throt/Fighterstick Pro | 4 DSD Boxes Falcon XT/AT/3.0/4.0 | LB2 | DCS | LOMAC Been Flight Simming Since 1988! In any case, I think it's great for immersion, as your mind tricks you into thinking it's your own. I hope the remaining aircraft get pilot bodies soon. Knock-Knock Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Ah, thx Boris. Been a while since I flew the Spit. When in the F-5, I set the gunsight to manual, and raise the seat until I have the center of the sight at the top edge of the HUD. For ground attacks thats perfectly fine, cause depression is used anyway. But also for dogfights, at least for me, cause I rarely pull negative G, and if need to be, I just lean in a little. I dont care too much for my head being a little too high above the virtual shoulders. Happens to me in the Mirage too. I generally like to sit high in the cockpit, so I maximize visibility. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |
