Screenshot Problem

Hi, ED!

 

I found a screenshot problem.

from yesterday update, DCS became to create screenshot of png format as default.

There are problem with png format.

Screenshots don't have "end of image = IEND" chunk.

according to PNG 1.2 Specification, PNG files must contain IHDR chunk, one or more IDAT chunks, and an IEND chunk.

Because of missing the chunk, Twitter says that "this file is invalid".

Please fix it.

If you wish to change back to jpg you can

 

c:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\autoexec.cfg

 

if you dont have autoexec.cfg create one.

 

add the line

 

options.graphics.ScreenshotExt = "jpg"

 

That should work

This problem isn't fixed with DCS 1.5.8.12667 Hotfix 2.

Hi All

As temp measure try opening the png files with paint and then save them as a jpeg file. Bit of work but may be worth it.

The command options.graphics.ScreenshotExt = "jpg" is ignored or is wrong.

 

Works reliably the way x:\Games\DCS xxx\Config\graphics.lua

 

Find the line:

 

ScreenshotExt = "png"; change to jpg

 

The fix will work until the next update!

I've just discovered that my screenshots are being saved in the User/saved games etc folder as png, and they are also being duplicated in the bin folder as bmp files.

Sorry for the delay in replying Devrim. Yes I am using Reshade 3.1.1 which is located in the bin folder also.

^ Yup, ReShade makes its own .bmp screens and it drops them into the bin folder.

FWIW, I can't say for sure when it was fixed, but recently, I've noticed that 2.5OB is still generating .PNG files, but Photoshop can now open them.

 

So, something was wrong with the files themselves earlier.
