Charlie-1 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Having tried the newly arrived Harrier I am sorry to say I am very disappointed. Being a VR player with Vive the graphics quality in cockpit is really bad, i.e detail is not visible, just looks like its shimmering. :( Other planes in 1.57 are amazingly good quality with detail legible. Also, low FPS in beta version of the game makes it un-playable. I'm getting jitters just turning my head in the menu screen. Anyone else with VR impressed? NeilWillis Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Highly impressed with the Rift and the AV-8B
bart Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 (edited) There was a bug with the Harrier giving bad FPS in the cockpit and in VR especially, but this was fixed with an update to 1.5.8 yesterday and I can confirm my end that it's fine now, silky smooth. You may want to check you have this update on your install. I also updated my GPU driver to 388.43 yesterday so that may have helped a bit. I play DCS on a Rift so can't comment on the Vive, but for me seeing the Harrier's cockpit detail is no different to all the other modules I have. In fact I am very impressed with the Harrier's detail and have no issues with it. Some of the writing on the panels etc is a little difficult to read clearly but this is common with all my other modules too. I have no issues reading gauges and the like, and the HUD is one of the best in DCS. Charlie-1 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks guys, I'm not sure what's going on. I have updated to latest G-Force driver and tried adjusting all graphics settings without any positive effect. I have tried on monitor view and although not as bad, I can still see shimmering. I think the graphics quality of the game in general looks worse/ lower than 1.57 to me?? The VR view is awful, looks like its been sharpened, sharpened and sharpened again. I wish I could share a screenshot of the actual Vive view somehow? Banshee Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Im super impressed by the Harrier in VR. Shimmering is missing mip maps, which is being fixed. Low fps was solved with the latest 1.58 OB Hot fix, released friday. Ok So Im really new with VR. I have the Oculus Rift and the A10 is beautiful, but Im getting the shimmery cockpit as well. Not sure what mip maps are lol but should I do the fix in this thread or just wait a bit for the designers fix. She is a gorgeous bird and if this is a known issue that is being worked I am not worried too much about it, a little hesitant on mucking with the files
