Joni Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Hi guys, did someone else also notice how the AI shoots their missiles at ghosts? Also they keep crashing with another AI planes. Lots of these things happened to me since latest beta patch. Fazer82 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Yep, the 1.5.8 patch really messed up the AI. I thought it was the M-2000C flight model updates because that's where I saw it first, but happens with A-10C wingmen too. They can't hold a formation and/or can't land, crash into things, etc. I'm going to make some tracks to illustrate I think so it can get reported if its not known internally.
Guest Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 :joystick:Yeah, they keep doing crazy things. I had one escort that crashed into a tanker and another one that hit my wingman and took his tail off
Art-J Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 I'm going to make some tracks to illustrate I think so it can get reported if its not known internally. Don't bother, I suspect tracks are still notoriously unreliable, good AI or not :D. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Grimes Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Tracks are useful even if the track itself is broken. It provides the mission file so that anyone can go in and look at the possible conditions that may apply to the behavior. Aircraft types, tasking, weapons, enemy forces, etc can all impact AI behavior in one way or another. In essence it is a whole lot more valuable for testing than a vague statement of an unknown aircraft type with an unknown task crashing into an unknown tanker type. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. You asked for it :) here is the mission where everything went wrong. Not only the crashes I mentioned. Everything in the mission was not supposed to happen. AI Escort tasks, AI crashing into eachother, AI getting out of fuel in no time, etc.M-2000C Long Range Air to Ground custom 2.miz
Grimes Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I forgot to mention the "isolated" part of a posting a mission featuring a bug. When we get full missions like this its a chore to isolate out what is and isn't needed between all the triggers and excess AI within a miz. Mission makers will always know their own creation better than any of us would. So it isn't always the easiest for us to identify bugged behavior with a lot going on. More importantly it isn't a quick thing to test. You've got me in a cold start Mirage set to fly literally across the entire Black Sea with no information on when a bug might occur. Where-as with an isolated test it'd be an air start with AI flights set to escort immediately, possibly fuel states adjusted, and attempts to replicate the behavior setup/forced to occur after a short time. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Coug4r Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 (edited) I can confirm the changed behavious of AI, they appear to react faster but make wrong decisions. They even fly into mountains when just following waypoints, don't think i've ever seen them do that under normal circumstances. This is only in the latest OB version. E: All spawned from script btw. BlowTorch Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) I also have experienced this problem since the update, in various situations and missions, without an apparent correlation to the aircraft I'm in or AI's own plane, or his skill level. Here is a track that maybe shows part of the problem: Quick fight, me in a Harrier, AI in a Su27, 6xR73. His tasking is to engage me, set with the advanced waypoint, engage unit. Skill at excellent. The fight starts head-on at about 18km each other, 2000m alt. The first missile he fires is a good launch, within parameters, I avoid it. Then just as we pass each other, he fires another that, while having a good lock, was obvious it was going to miss. His third shot about the same, with a lock but poor shot. Then the next 2 or 3 missiles are just blind shots, into the sky, without even a lock. After some more flying and avoiding him, I put his plane in a risky situation, low and slow (VIFFing can be useful sometimes...), and he decides to just dive into the water, not even really trying to recover. Hope the track works as intended...AI in 1.5.8.trk Edited December 14, 2017 by BlowTorch
